I don't use pads because I am worried about over heating. I found a $19. metal fold up stand for mine. You can spread it out horizontal to wide or fold it in half and use it vertical. When it is vertical it can be put on a slant and my lap top stays in place, but I don't place it near the edge of of the footstool just in case it should lose traction. It suits my purpose because I am going to use it while I am cruising. Easy to pack.

I would suggest using the rubber or vinyl non-slip pads that are about 1" in diameter and are normally used on chair legs to keep them from slipping on a slick floor.

I also have a fold-up pad that is plastic, but I perfer my Targus Podium Coolpad. It holds the laptop securely at an angle and can be adjusted for different heights. It also has a base that pivots.

Or you could just go to the hardware store and buy a roll of rubber shelf liner - think its only like 2 or 3 dollars.

I made table place mats out of that for my disabled dad so his dinner dishes wouldnt slide around. Great stuff, cheap, easy to cut to size with scissors. Comes in different colors - not bad looking at all.

Which I DID the same day I received it on August 27, 2008 and they still won't do it after 10 e-mails back and forth the last of which was Sept. 15th. I even sent pictures of it and they are trying to blame UPS when the Item box was the smashed one and NOT the brown shipping box.
In other words, I am assuming they put a smashed box from off their shelf into the brown shipping box. Otherwise, how could the item box be smashed when the shipping box isn't?

mikie has it! I use black shelf liner beneath by keyboard. For a laptop it would also not reduce air flow as much as a solid surface.

that shelf liner stuff is very good and you can get it in various grades and thickness, don't go with the super cheap it will fall apart much faster than the better quality stuff.

Also you can search stores like walmart, target, any where that has kitchen accessories. Look at the rubbery, gel like pad/mats that go in the bottom of the sink. I just recently saw some that were for use in the kitchen that were about the right size for a laptop that were a rubbery gel like material which would be perfect. One that I saw was at Bed Bath And Beyond and looked like it was flat "pebbles" which gave it a good texture for air movement. Some are also made for place mats to hold dinner plates in place with out slipping. Another outside the box place to look is for pads that go in the shower and bath tub.

Think outside the box!

Yes- Mikie is right! I use the shelf liner, as it is a mesh- lots of air ventilation. 2. It also works great placing a piece over the ATV gas cap- then the dog (small) does not slip when she rides with me- her feet are on the liner, which is secured by a hole cut out and sitting over the gas-cap. 3. It keeps the small TV from slipping on the tilted wall mount in the bedroom. Good stuff!

Was the item itself damaged or just the box?

Because of the jolt of TWO drops, (left & right corner smashed) the right and left leg on one side had the tabs broken that keep the legs snapped into place when closed. The broken parts were in the "sockets" and a broken off mark where they were attached is showing.

Those tabs are to keep the legs locked into place when being carried.
Nothing major but if one is paying for a new product, it should not be shipped damaged in any way.

I sent them an e-mail Monday saying if I do not hear from them in a few days, I am going to contact BBB.
I just received an e-mail back this morning of them shipping me another one.
We will just have to sit tight and see?

OH they should most certainly replace that item for you, you have done such an excellent job of proving with the pictures exactly what happened and that it was them that caused the damage. I bet you will get some resolution. Keep us updated! You know the power of many people emailing a company on behalf of someone does wonders .... just saying! Lets them know how quickly some thing minor they could have resolved may be causing them a bad name.

I still won't believe until I receive it that they are shipping me another like their e-mail said.
I should get a notice (e-mail) of shipment along with the tracking # like the first one was and I didn't get it yet.

there are on kind of car non slip pads. some are soft and some are hard.
I advice you can find find the styrene butadiene rubber sheet with the threds on both size.
I have met such product but as harf raw materal to make the bags.
