I make my own from sandpaper and a paper punch....glue em on with elmers

Have them on all my templates work just fine.

Use them!!! A slippery ruler can be a dangerous thing!

And FYI..don't waste your money on that non-slip plastic sheeting stuff..it doesn't work!!

The well-known dollar stores often have the cork and other type pads to use on furniture, etc. I have bought these in large sizes (for $1.) and cut them to fit my needs. Be thoughtful when you apply them to rulers as you want to be able to follow the lines. I make a lot of triangle half squares, so I do not put a piece where it will obstruct my view of the most important lines.

Making your own out of sandpaper is fine, but watch that glue. I am sure there are other products you can use, perhaps even stick-on velcro, to keep the ruler from slipping. Get creative. I bet you have something on hand.

I love them, too. Bought a set once, and then decided I could cut up fine sandpaper and attach it with rubber cement to get the same effect.

Mamabear makes a good point about putting them where they won't get in the way of one's view when measuring.

I just used Aleens thick designer tacky glue in the pink bottle.I use this glue for tons of things as it will hold up outside as well as inside.Just a little dab will do.

Amazing enough I have time to kill today (should be quilting) so thought I would search for helpful quilting tips prior to me joining this site. I thought this tip might be helpful for other newbies so back to the top!!

I like the idea of using sand paper for ruler backing I have the invisible sheet on my rulers currently but I still have slippage maybe I press to hard...going to give the sand paper a try.

Someone bought me a pkg of the clear grippy dots. Those work & you can still see thru them. But I wish they were a tad bit thinner...my ruler bows slightly between the dots.

A few dots of puffy paint will keep your rulers from slipping also. I used to write a little squiggle on the bottom of my kids socks when they were little to keep them from sliding on the non-carpeted floors.

Yesterday I tried spraying 404 (a spray that is supposed to make photos stick in albums, yet they can be removed and repositioned easily) on a ruler I never use. So far as not slipping around on the material, it worked like a dream--but don't anyone try it yet! It occurs to me that if it picks up lint and becomes unsticky or less transparent, that I would want to remove it, and removing it would most likely remove the lines from the ruler as well.

I'm going to try rubbing it around on fabric to see what will happen in the long run.

Biwako, try a little Skin So Soft or mineral oil to remove the 404 residue. It may not affect the ruler lines. I think alcohol would remove the markings. Keep us posted, it's a good idea.
