Chrome vs Satin Nickel
Comments (16)On rereading this, thought of something kinda funny. You mention the brushed nickel door knobs. IMO, you can go with whatever bathroom faucet finish you like, even if it doesn't match the door knobs or the faucets in the kitchen. I'm definitely not a "the whole house has to match" guy. The funny part is that back in the 1950's, it apparently was important to match the door knobs, in a new house at least. In my tract development, all the homes have a sort of copper-tone finish on the door knobs and hinges, except on the bathroom and kitchen side of the doors, where they are chrome. The hinges were also chrome (they are on the bathroom and kitchen side for both doors), although I replaced them because they were pitted and rusty. I'm assuming the homes all had chrome faucets originally. And it's not like they took two knob sets and just split them, because the locking button is on both chrome ones. Strange, eh? I'm wondering if it's possible to order a split finish on lock sets these days? I'm in the process of replacing the doors in the house and they will all have the same finish on both sides. A little quirk that will be lost in my home, although not quite. The same thing was done with the two pocket doors going into the eat-in kitchen - the little finger grippy things on the door - kitchen side is chrome while other side is the copper tone. I replaced both doors but kept the same finger grips. This post was edited by DreamingoftheUP on Sun, Mar 23, 14 at 6:22...See MoreAnyone have Warmrails in Satin Nickel Finish?
Comments (2)Thanks, Weedy. Are your faucets/fixtures brushed nickel, satin nickel, or do you have some of both?...or is brushed and satin nickel the same thing? I'm so confused! Comments (18)The Kohler Wellspring is similar in design to the Newport. The main difference is the base - it doesn't have the curved body. It comes in brushed nickel, which is close to, if not the same, as satin nickel. No, it's not identical. If you want identical, I suggest looking for a different faucet - one that has a coordinating filtered water faucet. Here is a link that might be useful: Kohler Wellspring...See MoreSatin nickel faucet with brushed gold hardware and lighting?
Comments (16)Both the Champagne Bronze Delta faucets and the Brizo stainless steel faucets we bought were above the cost of what you could get a standard faucet for in stainless steel with a traditional design. However, we were able to maximize discounts by shopping online for the lowest prices which sometimes involve a percentage off discount sale since Delta/Brizo and other brands put a cap on how low resellers can advertise the list prices. Also be aware that some faucets being ordered online right now are being delayed weeks out due to lower capacities in manufacturing and shipping delays due to the pandemic. Our faucet order placed last week is projected to arrive in 3 weeks. If cost is a big concern, maybe the polished nickel might be a compromise after all, but again, polished nickel is frequently higher in cost than stainless steel, so if it was the gold/brass color you really wanted, then polished nickel is only getting you halfway to that goal for an increased cost anyway....See Moretrinintybay
