My kitchen is surrounded by large windows so maybe that's why I'm able to see so many? Or maybe my guys just consistently rubbed too hard 🙄 Does your kitchen have a lot of natural light coming in from different directions? May be possible you have more but just can't see them. The small section near my stove doesn't get direct light and it's the only spot that looks normal. It's deceiving. Do you know if your fabricators guys have been wiping your counters with acetone or lacquer thinner after they install? That may be why it keeps happening? I've researched literally hours daily, even called other fabricators and it is VERY common for them to wipe the counters off with one of those cleaners to get rid of any epoxy, markings from cut lines, water spots made during fabrication etc. From what I've gathered most brand countertops aren't effected, HOWEVER, I believe Daltile's tops don't react well to it. I was able to recreate the streaks near identical by wiping my scrap piece with acetone and lacquer thinner (if you rub even a little too hard. Didn't take much pressure) I got the last slab in Houston apparently and I don't even know if they have gotten anymore in, so I may be in the same boat as you. I'm like you, the streaks were driving me crazy after saving and hunting down my tops for months. And even though they are gone now, it is annoying me that my top has lost some shine and doesn't look as smooth in raw light. Still debating with myself if it's worth a redo. Keep me updated! My daughter used that tile in her bathroom. Her cabinets are a light grey. Your picture makes your cabinets look white but that might be just the photo or how it looks compared to the quartz. My daughter likes contrast so she actually used a black quartz for her countertop. She used 24x24 tiles on her floor and 12x24 on her tub/shower walls. She went with the matte finish for both. At the time she did her bathroom, the glossy finish Florentine Carrara samples she had looked quite a bit different (in the undertones of the white background color) from the matte tiles. Be sure to look at both types of tiles side by side. Also the gloss tiles are ceramic while the matte tiles are porcelain. Here are a couple shots of her bathroom It’s hard to see the subtle brown in the tile pics I think it would look better if you do not use a marble look quartz. It obviously won’t look like the tiles so it may end up looking like a miss match. I love the look of this quartz. It has sparkle in it which adds some glam and it would provide some contrast but not be as dark as a black quartz. I have seen it in person and think it’s beautiful. It’s Cambria’s Minera. The slab view on Cambria’s website does not do it justice at all. Each quartz company has quite a few shades of grey with different looks. Good luck.

After months of indecision I finally forked out the money for quartz (I was kind of set on tried-and-true laminate, only because I've had it in homes my entire life and it's always lasted perfectly, and I just couldn't see spending thousands on the countertop part of the kitchen when laminate is so inexpensive in comparison!) I am pretty 'scared' of my quartz, afraid everything is going to damage it. I hate feeling like I have to baby something that is supposed to be an everyday workhorse! So far the issue I have is I'm already getting 'tea' stains from my adult son making tea and not wiping it up immediately if he spills a bit on the counter. They are very light and possibly visitors wouldn't notice, but of course, I do. I'm not sure what to use for that, there are SO many things you CAN'T use to clean it. So far, I just wipe it with the rest of the counter, hoping eventually they'll just fade away, but if anyone knows something safe I could try, that would be great! I haven't used the toaster on my countertop at all yet because it scares me. My MIL's quartz countertop cracked (huge!!!!) while she was using her 'air fryer'. I use an electric griddle sometimes and I'm scared to use it how I normally would've with a laminate countertop, so I use it by putting a towel down on top of my gas stove burners and set the griddle on there (which is ridiculous, really??!!). I am also 'scared' of the countertop yellowing over time since I have pretty much all-windows in one area of my kitchen. I originally wanted an 'all-white' kitchen, so I didn't really consider other products because of the usual veining. I'm not sure they don't also have to be babied though. Just my personal experience/thoughts.

I generally don't express this opinion because I am in the clear minority and unlike Patricia Colwell I don't feel a need to convince anyone that I'm right. And right off the bat I will have offended the many people who have chosen marble-look quartz for their kitchens. It's not personal. Your kitchens are lovely. Bear with me, though, because I'm going somewhere with this. I don't care for marble-look quartz, and I have yet to see any that I thought looked convincing (note to Lauren--I'm interested to know what products you thought looked convincing, not saying they aren't out there, just that I haven't seen them). The porcelain products look convincing. You know what else does a pretty good job of faking the pattern of marble? Laminate. It won't pass Patricia's hot pot test, and it won't pass for real marble because the edges of laminate counters always look like laminate no matter how good the pattern looks. But they create the pattern by taking a picture of real marble, so the patterns are actually quite good. Maybe laminate is too low-brow for your mom. Maybe her kitchen is so big that the pattern would have to repeat, which would undermine the effect. But maybe it will suit her needs. Wilsonart Calacatta Lincoln I thought was the most likely fit (below) but you could also look at Wilsonart Drama Marble and Anzio marble and maybe Formica Calacatta Cava.
