There two things that will help me identify the trouble for you. One is when you try the timer does it display that a station is running and if it does can you here one of the valve solenoids buzzing. If the clock doesn't show a station, try removing the battery and unplugging the timer for one minute. If it does show a station but the solenoids do not buzz, the problem will most likely be a bad or broken common wire. This seems the most likely trouble rather then all the solenoids going bad or the clock partially failing.

Hibernate sometimes gets turned off in Vista by some clean up programs. If hibernate is turned off on the shut down menu, you will need to re-enable it. If you don't it will never work with any keystrokes. If you know how to open a black administrator cmd window, you can enable it by typing in; powercfg -h on Some laptops have special key presses to enter sleep and hibernate... Is this a laptop ? If so what is the make and model. Maybe someone will find and read your manual.

Yes, I do know you're not suppose to shut computer down with the power button but is was an all else failed situation and even that didn't work. Step two for me was to unplug the thing to shut it down and that's probably a terrible thing to do. But eventually it did start back up after several scary seconds. I just hope I don't have that problem again but it does seem to be an issue for some with windows 7.

Configuring Power Settings or Managing Power Options on that page in the above mentioned area you do not see the same thing they show in the picture? If you do not show any of those then you need to go to kellys corner and do a reg edit, very easy to do and the directions are right up at the top of page. You need to go to this link I give then scroll down to #204 look on the RIGHT side column there you will see Restore Power Schemes/Configurations, that is the one you want to click. Follow the directions given for how to import it into your registry. "To use the Regedits: Save the REG File to your hard disk. Double click it and answer yes to the import prompt.
