I've played on pogo.com and have not had any problems with it. I only play against the robot, though. I'm not into playing on-line players.

Also, I saw a Scrabble computer game at Best Buy last month for about $18

I've played Yahoo! Literati for years and have never had a problem. As long as you decide when and which "room" you are going to play (and your Yahoo! Nickname, of course) you can play whenever you want.

I will caution you though - Literati accepts some "words" that normal scrabble would not. It is using Dictionary.com as the "judge" and there are some 2 letter combinations that will certainly cause an eyebrow to raise. All of the following (not a complete list to be sure) are accepted as "words":

AA AB AD AG BI FA KA LA MA PA

Which makes for some interesting opportunities. Also, the board as a slightly different layout for the double/triple scoring, but again, it is manageable.

toby, I play online Pogo Scrabble the minute I get home from work until I go to bed. I often play entire weekends as well. I have met lots of great people playing. Here is the link. If you are a paid club pogo member you won't get commercials. I am not, so I just mute the sound during commercials, which only last 30 seconds.
There is also a game called Lexulous (lexulous.com) which is like scrabble but has 8 tiles. Then there is Literati, which has thousands and thousands of players compared to Pogo's hundreds. I love that one also. I have made new friends there who are still friends. Go to yahoo.com, then yahoo games, then word games, then Literati. You will have to create a log-in, but you will love it and get hooked. The acceptable words are a little different than Scrabble, but very close.

Thanks. Pogo seems to be the answer - I will have to do some investigating and get Dad started. One of my co-workers plays through Facebook, but Dad won't have anything to do with Facebook. I've learned not to push when he digs his heels in!

beanthere, you have to be a Club Pogo member, I believe, to win prizes. I do, however, have the highest percentage of wins of any player I have competed with. (Of course, I have only plaed 400 + games, and some people have played thousands)

I can never get in on a 2 person game. What's up with that? Sherry, is there a way I can request to play a game with you?

I played against 2 other people, but they totally creamed me! LOL I win against the robots nearly all the time, tho!

Well, the easiest way Linda is to start your own game. Go to one of the rooms that are dark green, and click on Play.
Then play the computer until somebody enters your room to play with you.
To play each other, we would have to arrange in advance. I could call you and say I am going to room 9, or whatever, and you could go there.
Truly, this Scrabble game is not as easy to do as Literati on Yahoo games. There, you can invite people to your room, you can boot people who are offensive. It has more control. However, there are thousands more people playing Literati, so you run into some very mean and offensive ones. I haven't played it in almost a year, but it is a lot of fun. A little different setup on the board as to where the triple words are.

You can play scrabble against your friends or strangers, whichever you prefer through Facebook. You do have to "allow" the application. And you can play live, i.e. at the same time, or just take a turn whenever you log on and the game can take weeks LOL.

Then once you've joined Facebook look for ScraMble as well. Now THAT one has me hooked. It's like a giant boggle board.

Hey, Sherry and Linda, another "addiction" we have in common.

Is there any place to play Scrabble where you can choose to play against the computer? Sometimes I just want to practice, or take my time or leave in the middle of a game. I feel bad doing that when there's another person trying to play.

OMG I love word games.

Pam, on facebook is the game Lexulous. (an application) or go to Lexulous.com. There you can do a "practice" by playing the computer. I will tell you, however, that I never play the computer at a level higher than 5. I am a really, really good player, and the robot above level 5 kills me.

Thanks, Sherry. I am definitely a lower level player so I'll stick with 1 or 2. Like I need one more way to waste time, although I think word games are good for the brain.

Pam, you can play Pogo Scrabble against the computer, too. Just don't enter a "room". At the top choose "play with robots".
