A question about a digital camera.....

If this is not the place to ask this,if not please forgive me.I have a digital camera.Its nothing wrong with it.I purchase it for my daughter and I should have waited till she got more into pic takking.She has lost the Cd that went with this camera.Can this program [cd] be downloaded from their website.Is this what its called,that is the cd that came with it?I wanted to give it to someone that doesn't have a digital camera.Thanks for any help with this.Judy

Just go to the manufacturers website and you should be able to find what you are looking for under Support

Cat Lady,

Is there some extraordinary or proprietory software on this CD? If not and you are just interested in photo editing software there are numerous applications available, both free and commercial, for that use.

Now there might be a necessary driver, and more than likely is, for your camera that has to be installed on the computer. I would first lookat the manufacture's website for it.

Do you normally wear glass? If so, could it be that the dioptric on the camera is set incorrectly? If you look through the viewfinder, on the right, there's a little + and - sign with a small rotating button, try turning that while looking through the viewfinder and see if it gets less blurry one way or the other. For me, it needs to be turned all the way to the " - " side. I'm even thinking I might need to replace the dioptric because I'm so blind :P You can order them at the Canon site under Accessories, though probably somewhere online has them cheaper :) I hope this info helps :) -A P.S. Now, if I could just figure out how to set the 9 dot thing properly when working with depth of field, I might get some photos that don't need to be "Sharpened" in PhotoShop! owbist, yes there is another port there but it looks like it may be for a mic. Its a round type outlet. I can't move the tower our because I'm afraid the cable it too short. Would it be OK if I just unplug the cable modem in the front & replug it back in when I get done transfering my pictures? oh, and thank you so much for your help!

I just asked my hubster and he uses a program called "Handbrake"..I don't know if its pc or MAC...probably MAC as that is what his laptop is... I just upload them to putfile or webshots and link to friends and family that way... Good Luck!!

Many cameras, when connected with a USB cord to a PC, appear as external drives in Windows Explorer. Find the folder with the media files (often named DCIM or a folder under it) and you can copy the files off onto your PC. Or, with the camera off, remove the SD card and connect it to the PC and do the same thing. Once the files are on the PC, the transfer to the iPad is an iPad question. I think you need to put it into a folder that "syncs" with the iPad using iTunes. Refer to the Apple forums for help if you can't figure it out. This is not a difficult task. Good luck.

You really have no need of that CD, I never use mine and I am on my 4th camera already. Most programs coming with cameras have limited stuff and loads of company bloat to contend with.

Whether you download your pics to the computer using a cable to the camera or use a card reader XP handles it beautifully. A window will pop up after connecting asking if you wish to copy these photos to a folder on your computer. You do. If you are connecting to the camera it must be turned on during the download.

It will then tell you how many pics are there and suggest a sub folder inside My pictures, this will have the current date for the folder name but you can change it to your liking. There is also a spot to place a tick to have the computer delete all the photos from your camera memory card once the transfer is complete.

On completion you are offered the chance to view your photos in a slide show if you wish. It all works very well really with no need of the CD you have lost.

absolutely you usually do NOT need the cd it is just another program you can add to your pc to handle the pictures from the camera but Windows has built in programs that can do the same thing. Plus you can get many very good free programs online to handle those tasks. And if it happened to have drivers you can always go to the manufacturer site look up that model number and find the associated drivers and info.
I like owbist never use the cd that comes with my cameras I do not need yet another program on my pc to do something I can already do.

I use a usb card reader and insert the memory card from the camera in to the card reader to me it is the easiest way to go.

Sometimes there is useful software that came on the cd but as has been pointed out you can usually download it from the support site of the camera manufacturer. I love the 'easy photo print' software that came with my canon but have downloaded an updated version from their site.

I got a digital camera for Christmas. Kodak C813.
I absolutely hated the software that came with it.
I never did figure out how to transfer photos with it.
So I uninstalled the software.

Now I just use XP's Camera and Scanner wizard to transfer pictures.
Start>>Programs>>Accessories>>Scanner and Camera Wizard
It works great for me and no more problems.

As not is a pretty finite word, and absolutely and usually along with it creates a hilarious oxymoron :), I must share that I had to install a driver for my Canon. Admittedly it was a result of following manufacturer's directions. Had I tried it with the applications already onboard perhaps it was not as necessary as Canon presented. Who knows? Regardless as it has been pointed out here if needed they are normally on the manufacturer's website.

hahahaa you are right I failed to put the , after absolutely, I was actually responding to what owbist had posted directly above mine there. Then continued on with my reply. Very much the run on pile up. LOL

I never said I was a grammar expert! I had to clear out those file cabinets in my brain to keep up with taking all my medication, this old age is not easy!
