You really have no need of that CD, I never use mine and I am on my 4th camera already. Most programs coming with cameras have limited stuff and loads of company bloat to contend with. Whether you download your pics to the computer using a cable to the camera or use a card reader XP handles it beautifully. A window will pop up after connecting asking if you wish to copy these photos to a folder on your computer. You do. If you are connecting to the camera it must be turned on during the download. It will then tell you how many pics are there and suggest a sub folder inside My pictures, this will have the current date for the folder name but you can change it to your liking. There is also a spot to place a tick to have the computer delete all the photos from your camera memory card once the transfer is complete. On completion you are offered the chance to view your photos in a slide show if you wish. It all works very well really with no need of the CD you have lost.

At this point a memory card reader isn't going to do you a lot of good if you didn't have the memory card in the camera. However, many cameras have onboard memory that capture a limited number of photos before it runs out of space. If you were able to take photos despite the fact that there was no card in the camera, then you probably have photos on the camera's small hard drive. You do need a special USB cable to access them. The USB end is standard on all USB cables but the end that plugs into the camera can vary greatly. Wherever you go to shop for a cable, do take your camera. Jodi-

I just got a digital camera. There are websites that will process your photos just like a regular photo lab. Family PC had an issue on digital photography and it listed some web sites that offer this service. www.fujifilm.net, www.kodak.photonet.com, www.ofoto.com, www.photoaccess.com, www.photoloft.com, www.sfw.com, www.shutterfly.com. All of these got good ratings from the testers. sfw.com is having a promotion, you get your first 24 photos sent and processed for FREE. I just sent mine! I don't know how it will work out yet. But..I keep reading the fact that the ink jet ink just won't last. I am printing my own pictures, too..and hoping for the best, but I just bought a Picture It program and it says the pictures will last anywhere from two months (two months!!!!!!!) to forty years...lol. Well, the forty years would probably take care of me and mine (the grandkids might like them longer than that though) but I have yet to see one that lasted only two months. I did a little experimenting and printed one off and pinned it up on my bulletin board in the light and air....it lasted about four months that way until it was a "ghost" picture. I have one printed on plain ol paper, but under glass on my desk here, and it has faded some, but is still nice. The book for the Picture It said that the ink will start "shifting" at about the two month point. I LOVE my digital pictures and you can print so many different sizes and do so much "adjusting" on them. But...I'm afraid ten years down the road, all of my work will be for naught. This is one of my favorite pictures and I treasure it....time will tell, I guess I wrote, "Christmas is Magic" underneath it. The book I was reading said to use the very best photo paper, and, of course, I do that, but I'm still a little worried about this. I've been doing this for about two years and keep going back and checking the pictures. I can't see that they are deteriorating as yet...
