Heck, I don't know, I'm so unfashionable as to be a laughingstock to my girls. Ashley is here, however, and says they're great, she loves them, and they'd go with everything. "glasses are fashion statements, now, Mom, you should think about that". Ahem.

That's because I just bought a new pair of glasses, my first bifocals. I just got the cheapest frames I could, they're light purple wire rimmed on the top half of the lens, no wire on the bottom, LOL. She tried to talk me into something "cool", but I was spectacularly uncooperative. (grin)

Fashion aside, if you think these compliment your face the best, then go for it. It's so hard to pick out frames especially when they cost so much.

I'm wondering how you dress 90 percent of the time? That's a consideration.

I have a red purse and it goes with just about everything (green, brown, black, gray, blue, denim, some shades of pink, purple, etc. - I get tons of compliments on that purse, lol). I wouldn't think red would be a problem since it's up near your face... But how does the overall style go with your overall wardrobe?

I think they're pretty sharp.

Well, if Ashley says so, it must be true! What does she think of the ones that are kind of gray-ish with the orangey sides? They are the ones all the way on the right.

What is I am wearing orange or brown or green? Would the red still be okay??

I actually like the gray ones with the orange-y sides, so that's probably the kiss of death, LOL.

OK, the "expert" says that the red side pieces are thin enough that it's not going to clash with anything, the black is going to be "predominate". I even asked her did she think the red would look "Christmas-y" with green. She told me that people didn't usually wear "that color" of green, but that she thought it was "edgy", not "tacky", whatever the heck that means. LOL

I think if you like them, you should get them. Most of the fashion "rules" have been discarded and now we get to wear what we like, even stripes with prints and brown with pink and yellow with purple, things I'd never have considered 20 years ago.

I say go for it, and I LIKE the gray ones with the orange side pieces.

Pam, I think picking out new frames is really hard. I've worn glasses all my life and what a pain.
I like to follow the current frame trends and it looks like you do too. Is the newest style going away from the wider sides? I really like the ones in your link.

As for color..I love colors in frames and try to blend it as well with my favorite clothes colors. Do you wear primary colors or more subdued tones? The primary colors go well with black or gray suits too. Harder to look good with taupes, tans, blues, etc. (IMO)

Kim new glasses are swirled grays and black, very light weight plastic frames with the wider arms, they look great with all the suits she wears to work and her salt and pepper hair. She's had nothing but compliments on them.

My current frames are a rosy copper color and seem to blend with just about anything...yet make a little statement (Fendi frame). I had an optician in the store this past summer, that had me take them off so she could write the style number down for ordering when she got back to work after her vacation.

I used to have the Sally Jesse glasses, but not in red, I had the exact frames in a teal/green/purple. They looked good with everything I wore back then.

Last thought....they 'say' that your frames should go with your eye color, skin tone and hair color... but sticking to the rules can sure be boring! Go with what you like!

I like them but it's hard to view them on their site. I like red frames, personally.

I have worn glasses all my life. Before I began wearing contacts I followed trends. Now I only wear glasses at night or early in the morning. My new thing is READING GLASSES! But I buy inexpensive silly ones in different colors. Of my most recent purchase my daughter said: Mom, those glasses make you look eccentric. My son said: Those glasses are ridiculous!

Red goes with everything. I say go for it! Do it! Now!

Red is a nice perk, and it does go with everything; I love those frames.

I'd never have red frames because I have a very pink complexion, but I have had fushia frames and loved them. Also got lots of compliments.

Go for the most fun glasses you can find!

Hey -- thanks for the good advice and encouragement.

Jessy -- Costco?? Never! At least never for eyeglasses.

So I went to an extra-expensive place today. The kind of place where the frames are locked up and they bring them to you. I saw three that I like although not more than the Zyls. Most of what they have are heavier plastic ones that I see a lot of. Of course, the ones I liked best cost about $400, for the frames plus another $300 for lenses! I won't shop at Costco, but I'm not paying that much either (unless I really love them).

I had a good time there because two other women were there and we were all helping each other.

Anyway , I dress professionally for work -- suits or nice jackets and pants. High heels. I mostly wear subdued colors, because that's the color suits come in.

Nancy, yes, choosing frames is just awful. It can take me months to decide and I have to drag friends out to see my top picks. I think I posted here the last time I was looking, too. I wear my glasses most of the time so it's important to me that they look good.

Eileen, I wish I could wear contacts successfully. Now that I need bifocals, I just can't get contacts that work right. I do have some for when I go out and don't want to wear glasses, and they are good enough for that.

I'm going to make myself decide tomorrow. (I think)

I like them! I am in desperate need of new glasses too, and I drive myself crazy trying to pick. I wish they were less expensive so I could choose 3 or 4 different pairs.

Sooo -- I went back to the optician, tried the black and reds on, fell in love with them again and -- helped by the encouragement I got from y'all -- I ordered them.

They are made of titanium and are light as a feather. I think I'll enjoy that. Now I can't wait to get them. Yippee, one decision made. Thanks for your help.

I just bought new computer glasses recently - that is glasses that I will wear instead of regular glasses when I want to see at computer length. Evidently, this is a popular trend now, although I had not heard of it when I asked for this from my eye doctor. The frames I bought are 1960s vintage from France and have diagonal black, white, and gray stripes. I haven't picked them up yet, and that's why I can't remember exactly how they look, but I'll try to post a picture of me wearing them later. They've been at the doctor's office for a week now! I will wear somewhat strange (according to others) glasses, and so I'm probably not the best person to ask about what to wear. I get way too many comments on some of my sunglasses.

I didn't see an actual frame set from the link but the feel I get from the site is not 'in your face" red but more a subdued aspect in the frame. Pam I think if your eyes are engaging - and based on your personality i would guess you do your eyes to communicate effectively - any color or shape in frames simply becomes an accessory not the main event, but supportive in a big way to the main event.

My husband has been wearing glasses since early childhood and he has gorgeous caribean blue eyes that were hiding behind heavy wrong color tear drop shaped frames when I met him. Before we even were involved - just friends - I took him for new glasses. He felt like a million bucks and when i got disengaged he got the courage to drive me to the airport for a business trip and kiss me - but that's another story!

My eyes are kind of "meh." Not big or dark or blue. Just meh. Medium size, greeny brown color and average number of eyelashes. I do use eye makeup.

No matter what I get they look weird at first. It's just a matter of getting used to them. My mother always says something like "did you think they look good?" Sigh.

Lars, I wish I had your fashion courage. I doubt there is much of anything that you could not carry off with style.

Jessy, that's a good article. I have had an awful time with getting lenses to be correct. I use the graduated bifocals. I go to an independent optician that I trust. He does not charge Costco prices, that's for sure. I know there are great bargains at Costco but there is something about the place that makes me want to turn around and run out the door, at least the one around here. I like BJs better.

Good for you! I like the frames. And if you usually dress conservatively, a little "pop" of color is going to be fun and not at all overwhelming.

I used to follow the old rules that glasses frames should match/complement eye color and frames should be as inconspicous as possible. Then when I needed new glasses this last time, I fell for a pair of small heavy plastic squarish frames in purple. I have never gotten so many compliments on a pair of glasses. People I don't know have asked me where I got them and complimented me on them. An old friend visited recently and the first thing she said after "hello" was "Those look GREAT on you."

If ya' gotta wear 'em, might as well have fun with it.

Lars I have been using computer glasses for a couple of years now. I don't wear glasses normally, except for some reading glasses for fine print, but when at the eye doctor's with Wolfram once the doc suggested computer glasses for that special distance that can be difficul or causing eyestrain when you spend a long time on computer.

Hi. Yes, they do, which surprised me because they are kind of old-fashioned. It's Huffords, in Bryn Mawr, PA. Their are not part of a chain. They said Minima is a small company located in CA and they have a hard time getting the frames.

Perhaps they would order them for you. I don't know. Be aware that the average age of the people working there is about 100.

I also tried to reach the company to find another place to see them near me, but the email bounced back to me. Great way to do business.
