you need to choose the IE flash player to download with IE and you need to choose the firefox version and download it with firefox if you use those browsers, You must get the proper version and use that browser to download and install. when you go to that link Zep provided called reinstall flash you will see which browser it is for if it is not the rigth one then you see that link that says Different operating system or browser? click that and it will offer you the links to the other options you could run the Secunia OSI and it will tell you what needs updating nad also provide the link directly to it. for any of these make sure any extras are unchecked including on the download page any thing McAfee or Norton related. AR can be an absolute monster to remove. A free application called REVO is regularly recommended here for uninstalling. I would use it in the Advanced Mode. It first creates a restore point, uses the target application's uninstaller, and then searches the drive and registry for leftovers. With AR don't be surprised if there are many. You will have an option as to whether or not to delete the findings. There is no backup so the choice will be yours and lasting. Personally I have never had a regret with anything I have removed which has been identified by REVO, nor do I recall any postings either. DA

I dont have it installed so I cant look to see where it starts from at boot but it would be in the registry under one of the Run keys, or it might be in all users or maybe user start up folder which maybe have it listing under Start/All Programs/StartUp. That link in your graphic is on your start menu & is just that, a link, to lauch the program manually - Acrobat runs in the background since the past few versions because so many people had complained it takes too long to start. As you can imagine, that large of a program doesnt just pop to attention when needed if they don't partially load it at boot.

If you do decide to remove AR please consider using REVO. Since v5.0, AR has been getting larger and larger while integrating deeper into the O/S. It can be a real bugger to remove with it's own utility if you can at all. I've seen corrupt uninstaller reports when trying to do so. Also, if you do decide to install the current version of AR I would suggest removing v5.0 first. My recollection is during the v3.0, v4.0, v5.0 era all too often those who attempted an overwrite actually ended up with two versions installed via the same folder. DA
