honestly if you don't wish to switch from IE to another browser then you are simply asking for punishment. IE was not made for users, but advertisers. That is why IE users have more problems with ads than users of any other browser. If you won't help yourself why on earth do you expect anyone else to help you? Download Firefox and it will automatically import all your IE links and settings to make things painless. Complaining about how bad IE sucks on ad based web sites is like sticking your hand into a fire and complaining to god about making fire less hot. Ain't gonna happen. Help yourself or learn to accept the pain.

I'm not sure if there are graphics/pictures involved in the threads. We have a pop-up blocker. I never see any pop-up ads. We also have this problem with the Tiger Woods 2007 game. It locks or we get the BSOD. I called EA sports and they told me to try to update a more current graphic driver. The web site showed that we already have the most recent driver. I guess I need to see if we have the current updates for the ActiveX and Java. This is a Dell that we bought from a friend. Thank you for responding to my question. nonnie_ga even if you do get your IE work properly it is a very good idea to get firefox as a second browser because if you do not have an alternative browser on the pc and IE fails then you have no way to get on the internet so to have at the least 2 browsers is preferred and you can have more than that, you could try Opera and the Google Chrome browser also but firefox is very easy to download set up and use, you can have it install all your IE favorites at the time you install it then you have them on both. You do not have to choose to set it as default you can leave your IE as default, simply click on the firefox icon when you need to use it. You can actually have both IE and firefox running at the same time also. Try Firefox should you need help with it just ask, I love firefox and use it daily and have a lot of very helpful add ons.

Thank you for your replies. Something bad is definitely going on for the first time ever--10 years for me. By deleting all temp internet files and cookies, yahoo and ancestry seem back to normal. But when I try to check my current version of Java, I get this message-- "Java has discovered application components that could indicate a security concern." I ran a full system scan with Norton two days ago. It gives me the green arrow that all is ok. Removed 36 items. But last night I got violent warnings from IE that I was under attack by viruses and Trojan horses and to click to deal with. Nothing like this has ever happened before. Was not sure if it was really from IE. I shut down IE and went to Norton which also showed an attack and that they dealt with it. Then I ran another full system scan. Mama mia--terror. It found 31 items and deleted them. Everything is running fine except that Java is still giving me the same message as above when I try to find my version. Norton shows that I was attacked by a Trojan horse associated with Java but it was deleted and no further action is necessary--their words. The Trojan horse is-- a0ee3d65141.class--not sure if that is a zero or the letter O. So what is going on? And I am packing for the airport. My NAV just renewed a few days ago and I have the latest version. Thank you.
