yes you can use a usb thumb drive or you can upload them to an online storage facility then move them from there to the other netbook if you want them there. Or if you have a stand alone cd/dvd usb unit you can use that. some netbooks have a slot for a memory card also if you have the pictures on a memory card in your camera you can use that to move them and you can also use a memory card just like you would a usb drive, insert it in your pc (or a card reader that is plugged into the usb port) move the pictures to it then insert the memory card into your netbook memory card slot and upload them off of the card. I have a net book also and have never missed the cd/dvd drive at all. I much prefer to use the other options mentioned.

In my office I have a dual boot Windows machine - running XP (pro I think) and Vista. I also have the Mac. I have not tried to put Windows of any flavor on the Mac; it was on my list of things to do. I was going to buy the program verses what's on the Mac. My pain management Dr did it; he had some issues with drivers. Not sure if he did XP or Vista. The Mac worked fine at 1st. I was able to Network; I was able to access the Windows machine both sides. When on the Windows PC; I was able to access the Mac from both. I'm not sure what changed and when but eventually I wasn't able to access either puter - I made user accounts on Windows (both sides) and now am able to access Windows (both sides) from the Mac. The problem is accessing the Mac from Windows. Granted, it very well may be me; because I haven't been as "heavy" into building & using the computer since we moved. The most I do is work with pictures; for that I use Windows because the Mac photo program confuses me. I like Windows much better all the way around because of ease of use; software works & I can do things without reading a manual. With the Mac, I feel so stupid some days. I haven't installed anything except firefox.. forgot how. lol It's so simple too from what I remember but I have to get the dummy book to do it again. lol One thing that will not work on the Mac is my Microsoft Works. All of my medical databases are made with works. I looked for a Mac plug in (reader) but they don't have one. I also don't want to have to replace my full Office suite.

Let's back up and define if we are discussing Direct Connect, which is what Quicken uses to log on to financial institutions and download transactions. Direct Connect in Quicken 2012 stopped working on 4/30/2015. This change was done by Intuit, who makes Quicken, so there is no way it works after that date. I assume Quicken 2013 will stop working on 4/30/2016, Quicken 2014 on 4/30/2017, etc. Intuit's Official Statement: As per your EULA, all online services for Q 2012 products ended on April 30, 2015. You must use a newer version of Quicken to continue to avail yourself of these services. They refer to "all online services", meaning where Quicken goes online and retrieves transactions or other information. I recall having to upgrade Quicken 2012 because Direct Connect timed out in the previous version but I'm not 100% sure of that. Everyone I know that used Direct Connect in Quicken 2012 saw repeated warnings. If you didn't, I'm guessing you might be exporting a file from your institution and manually importing that one file for that one institution into Quicken. That is a completely different part of the program and probably still works. If that doesn't then there could be a problem with the file. I'm completely unfamiliar with that part of the program. This is SOP for Intuit, selling a programs for an extremely low price, and then having the upgrade be very close to the price of the product outright. Many of the Quickbooks products time out much faster. I think Quickbooks with Payroll forces you to buy a new one each year. PS: As I reread my first answer, I realize is seemed harsh, which I didn't intend. I'm sorry if it offended anyone.

I had a 6 year old Mac Airbook that I loved. However, I spilt some tea and the right shift key stopped working. I loved that computer so much that I kept using it with only a left shift key for over a year. Then the touch pad became wonky and it was getting really slow. Long story short, in January I was just "looking" at Best Buy and went home with a brand new Mac Book Pro. They had zero financing and a long try at home period. Now I don't know why I suffered so long with a malfunctioning Mac Air. To answer your original question I had always been a PC user and for somethings I do prefer a PC. If you are doing any picture editing, or art designing go with the Mac Book. My friend has a 15 inch MacBook and uses it for Photoshop but finds it too heavy to take on photo travel. He may buy a smaller 13 inch just so he can carry it on trips without breaking his back.
