FTP Problem - Cannot Delete or Modify Files

I am using WS FTP Pro.

I open my FTP server space for my website.

I downloaded a txt file to make changes.

Then I tried to delete the old file so I could upload the new one.

I get this error:

550 %RMS-E-PRV, insufficient privilege or file protection violation

It won't let me delete the file.

I tried uploading the modified file anyway.

Then I get this error:

Request contains 1 file(s) already requested

Discarding new request

It won't let me overwrite the file.

I have tried everything I know to try.

Is there something I am missing on this?

Have you tried uploading and deleteing using IE as your FTP client?

Just open a second browser and delete the url at the top and type in:

ftp://your-user-name:password@www.whatever.com

(ofcourse you would put in your user name, password and whatever the name is of where you keep your website like you do in the ftp window)

All of your files should showup and then you can right click and delete and shorten the window and you can drag and drop the new file(s) Its also a great way to delete alot of stuff at one time.

I usually don't recommend using IE, but in this case its easier then banging your head over an FTP that is acting up.

Poohbear,

I assume you don't have unlimited access to this server? I doubt that using a different program to upload your files would make any difference. Maybe the administrators of that server inadvertently changed the file protections upstream of your space so that you really have "insufficient privilege" to modify/delete them. Check with the admin of your server.

Their are 2. Go to the first one that's without an extension Right click Host and open with Notepad. OR Do a search for Host - Click open containing folder. Look for Hosts C:\Windows\system 32\drivers... Open Host with Notepad.

EasyCleaner - Duplicate Files

Be extremely careful deleting duplicate files with any program. I read stories of people doing this with EasyCleaner and end up having to format their harddrive and reinstall the operating system. Take a close look at the so called duplicates that ToniArts EasyCleaner finds, in reality all the files listed are not duplicates. Below is just a short example of so called duplicates. Notice each file is different and they expect you to check them and delete. Not me, no way, I want my programs to work. That's why they warn you to save in the recycle bin in case something doesn't work, but how often do you check all your programs before you empty the recycle bin.

minidump file?

Thanks, mikie. The minidump file must be normally sent automatically because I found the history in the Problem Reports folder; but this time it wasn't sent, and asked me if I wanted to send it, and not knowing what it was or what to do, I didn't send it. : ) I will from now on. It seems every morning when I power up the computer, it automatically connects to the public network, eventhough I'm sure I programmed my computer to open on my private one. I'm embarassed to say that I can't seem to remember where to find things on my computer, for instance, to show me where to tell it to open with my private network. Any idea? Once I work up the courage to add the MAC addresses, I'll try the filtering again. The tech support told me that I had entered the wrong address, but I think it was that I hadn't entered ALL of the addresses for both computers and the printer; but had only entered my laptop address. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

ClientCore.exe seems to be part of HP SimplePass (a fingerprint reader). Does that sound right? If so does it work? Do you use it? Did you remove Microsoft Visual C++ Redistributable while in Programs? Those two DLL files seem to be provided by it so reinstalling Visual C++ would likely give you the DLLs back.

Found the problem. Service provider is making some
major changes to the servers and the way we get email.
I can't say the changes will be for the better (but they say it).

Anyone ever heard of MailFoundry?
It is the new service my provider will be using.
Don't see how it can be better than Postini.

I saw some of that today when I was poking around in the new system.
I still can't see how it is better than Postini.

I like being able to check my quarantined messages
anytime I want to, not just once a day with a 'daily digest'.
I'd hate to have to wait till the next day to get
a confirmation email that gets mistakenly quarantined.

My ISP made some big changes. Mostly to the servers.
They changed the address of my website for one.
They changed the way they handle spam email.

Now instead of being to check my quarantined mail
anytime I want to, I get one summary email per day.
I am not liking this situation at all.

This will be a good time to make some major changes to my website.

Oh, and I have FTP access again.
