The mini dump is a file the computer makes when something hangs on the computer,,, it would have nothing to do with your router. Normally that file is sent to microsoft automatically.

I don't use your particular router so not sure what you are seeing.

Public network typically is the WAN side of your router. Anotherwords,,, the internet.

Private network typically is the LAN side. Your local network.

Sounds like you want to enable MAC filtering and put your laptop MAC and any other computer MAC that is on your local network in the MAC filtering settings too.

Then you should be all set...
,,. except when your stubborn neighbors wifi does try to connect to your network ... then your router asks it to try again, over and over, until the router locks up and resets. Seems to be the way it goes ;)

Thanks, mikie. The minidump file must be normally sent automatically because I found the history in the Problem Reports folder; but this time it wasn't sent, and asked me if I wanted to send it, and not knowing what it was or what to do, I didn't send it. : ) I will from now on.

It seems every morning when I power up the computer, it automatically connects to the public network, eventhough I'm sure I programmed my computer to open on my private one. I'm embarassed to say that I can't seem to remember where to find things on my computer, for instance, to show me where to tell it to open with my private network. Any idea?

Once I work up the courage to add the MAC addresses, I'll try the filtering again. The tech support told me that I had entered the wrong address, but I think it was that I hadn't entered ALL of the addresses for both computers and the printer; but had only entered my laptop address. Thanks for your help, much appreciated.

I could be wrong, but I think what you want to do is right click on the wireless connection icon in your notifications area (near the clock) then left click on 'View Available Wireless Networks'. Locate your connection, right click and left click on 'Set as Default' (I cannot remember the exact verbage, it may be always use this connection). That should set your network as the one that you automatically connect to.

Please ignore this post if I totally misunderstood what you were asking.

Hi Pam, You did understand my question. : ) I can't find where it says language similar to 'set as default' or 'always use this connection'; but I did check off where it says to automatically connect with it.

I don't know why my computer would connect with the public one instead. Thanks for your help.
