Can't send email to myself.

I am trying to identify a problem with one of the three email accounts on my computer. I am testing Windows Live to see if I like it more than my Office 2000 Outlook program. I really want/need to solve this problem on my own and I wish I could send myself email as a test. The problem: My ISP (TDS) doesn't allow me to send mail to myself and it doesn't let me recieve my own posts to the lists on which I am a participant. I have asked them why and the answer is that this is simply the way their server works. When I post to my Siberian husky and Faceblind lists I don't get to see my mail as it is added to all the others on the lists. However, I do see my posts to the forums I use.

It would be a grest help if I could send and receive test mail form some available service rather than keep bothering my friends and family with test mail. Is there such a service--one to which I can send test mail and that they will confirm? Would this be the same as pinging?

Hey sue! I think I got your last email. And yes I needed to clean out my email! It was my husbands fault! Lol! He got emailed alot of jokes at work. Jokes complete with pictures. He thought I would like them and sent them to me. Since Im always behind keeping my email cleaned out I guess it was just too full! Im sorry! Oh I checked out to see if the shrub I wanted to send you would grow in your zone. They are hardy to zone 4a. I wouldnt have guessed they were that hardy! Couldn't agree with you more. In your case, you really have nothing to lose - you have the space, you get cool plants for free, minimal effort. It's just a waiting game. Let's face it, waiting for gratification has become a lost art so-to-speak. I know, I know we've had this conversation countless times before on this forum BS vs. smaller plants or parts of plants and to each his own, but I'm with you. I love the process and the process makes the reward all that much sweeter. I do the some thing with my garden plants. Last year I did a seed trade with a guy in England for some martagon lilies. Planted the seedling out last spring and now I only have about 7 years to wait for the first flowers. Love it! Kevin

Might want to visit your isp support pages to see how to set Outlook Express email settings - pay particular attention to the server names and the check box for outgoing 'server requires authorization'. Here is a link that might be useful: email setting, mycablespeed

I had a problem one time with OE sending emails. I could receive, but not send. It's been awhile so I don't remember exactly, but it seems like it had to do with compressing (I don't think that is the right term) the messages. I think I had to contact my ISP to get it resolved. Just another idea HTH

Get yourself an additional account with another email client. Then you can test emails all day long between the two.

Most isp's let you have several email accounts for family members. Perhaps make a second account to mail to your imaginary self.

I have three accounts with my ISP. I think they don't allow communication among different accounts that all use their server. I don't understand why they won't let me see my messages on the two list I participate in. I can see in my Out box that these messages have gone out, but I can't see how they appear on the lists. If no one on the list directly refers to my entry I can't feel certain that the topic/response is being read by other list members. I have read somewhere that my ISP says this policy prevents duplication of information taking up my space. Huh???

Are these google or yahoo groups where you post these messages ?

Most everything is searched and cataloged thats online by one or more search engines. Perhaps you can see your message by searching some keyword in it and find an alternative place to read them.

remove the XXX from the url if thats the right place
