can't send e-mail

All of a sudden I can't send outgoing mail using Outlook Express 6. I can recieve but not send. It keeps asking for my password over and over again. The remember password box is checked but is greyed out. When I cancel I get the mesage, "Some errors occurred while processing the requested tasks. Please review the list of errors below for more details". But down below is blank. There is no list of errors. I have also scanned my computer looking for viruses but nothing shows up. I hope someone can help.

I often have that problem and sometimes there seems to be no reason for it. Other times I have changed my email then I have to call my server and the techs walk me through it.

The point owbist was trying to make about posting your e-mail address is there is software available that all it does is mine the Internet pages for e-mail addresses. Once this software locates an address it harvests the address and places it in a database usually controlled, shared, and sold between spammers. In other words you are making the spammers' job easier by providing them a valid e-mail address. Now please don't panic and feel like the world is coming to an end. Just be on alert for a possible increase in spam. Then you would have to take some remedial action such as changing your e-mail address. Thank you for the reply. I did delete everything, 2 items, in my outbox and it's working okay today. I did the same thing,deleting, a couple days ago and it didn't work, so who knows, maybe it just needed some rest time:) Thank you again, this forum is one of the best on GW,certainly one of the most helpful.

Have you compacted your messages lately? Open OE, click File/Folder/Compact all folders. Cured? You could try the link at the bottom and do a repair. Or you could try a free online scan for any malware that might have sneaked in. BitDefender, Housecall or Symantec plus others offer free scans Here is a link that might be useful: Repair IE or OE in XP

Do you have your OE configured for your ISP server or configured for a web-based service?

Have tried turning off you AV and sending a test e-mail?

A Google of "Outlook Express 6 won't send" (sans quotes) may help you.

You have another thread on Trojans right now. Did you update then run a full scan with Malwarebytes rather than a quick scan? Same with your anti virus? You should perhaps do both those tasks so you are confident the computer is clean

DA, Everything seems to be in order as far as OE being configured with my ISP server. I'm not sure what you mean by turning AV off.
owbist, I ran both a virus scan and a Malwarebytes. Malwarebytes showed two trojans which I deleted.

Never mind. I figured out that AV is anti virus. I turned it off but it still won't send. It would be nice if I would get a error message but it is blank.

I had a problem one time with OE sending emails. I could receive, but not send. It's been awhile so I don't remember exactly, but it seems like it had to do with compressing (I don't think that is the right term) the messages. I think I had to contact my ISP to get it resolved. Just another idea HTH
