You would download IE7 from Microsoft, here is the link,

On that page look for the word (DOWNLOAD), there is a blue bar across the page and the word download is over to the left side hard to see with all the other stuff.

Once the download is done & installed check your version to verify it..

I have a new problem now.. I can't get IE on. I click on the icon on my desktop but nothing happens. I have 2 IE Icons.. one has the arrow & one doesn't. I have a new thingie in the taskbar I hovered over it & it says "RESTORE" but afraid to click it till U say it is OK. Will that put IE on?

Yes reinstall ie7 again that's what you are trying to do right?

if things don't improve try doing a system restore to the time before your problem started.

you should also be able to go to the windows update site and find the update there for IE7 you probably have it blocked and would need to unblock it to get it from there.

Yes I am trying to get IE 7.. should I delete before I download it again or will it install right over it..

Yes remove ie7 from the add/remove programs list if it's there, then after you do that verify that ie6 is working and check the version you know how to check it,

It is not recommended that you overwrite a corrupt install. I like RC's recommendation to restore and then download again. If you have IE7 blocked in your Windows Update utility, remove the block and update via the utility.

Though I am not certain why this concern occurred, this is a small example of why I recommend users update through the Windows Update utility rather than from the Microsoft Download Center whenever possible.

I deleted IE7 & now I can get IE to come on but it is IE6..I'm tempted to just let it be but will try again..

Could the problem be that I clicked on the "IE7 upload link" in FireFox.. I have a feeling I should have done it in IE6.

Try it in ie6 again.

Don't be afraid of system restore it's your friend, and we will not be using it anyway.

Well I tried again in IE6 & still have the same problem.. NO IE..
Gonna go I delete it & hope I get IE6 back..

Let me know when ie comes back, I do not have detailed instructions on windows up-date, how to un-block,ect but that's all you need to do, I wanted it to work this way but failed...

Yes,

Once Windows XP has been updated to SP3, users can then install IE7. That process allows for reverting to IE6 in the future.

Doing it the other way that is installing IE7,and then SP3 could lose the ability to return to IE6,

so you are ok go ahead and download it.

If this does not work go to windows update page and let it scan the computer see what options are there.. to unblock IE7, is what we should have done in the first place....

But this also helps you to learn stuff...

Another thought.. I believe IE7 is installed. I now believe the shortcuts are for IE6.. where can I get the shortcuts for IE7?
Also after IE installed I got this message:

Don't go there yet, see if IE in the start menu,you click start look for IE in there and click it see if it opens from there.

Click Start -> Click Run in the run box,Type (iexplore) -> press Enter

create a short for IE (ICON) ON DESKTOP,

Right click your desktop and select properties. Click Desktop and then click Customise desktop. Tick Internet Explorer and then OK and OK.

Zep.. WE did it.. I got it loaded from programs... I was right..the shortcut was for IE6..
Now I gotta get the shortcut on the desktop..

I see no update listed..

Make sure you use IE7 for this,

Google "Windows update" click the first link, it will start to scan the computer checking for updates.

OR

click start, in the start menu there really should be something that says "Windows Udate" That will take you to the windows update page.

IE7 Was installed the whole time, it was the short cut was not working cause IE6 was not there anymore.

Do I want to do this?

to get to the windows update site click on start then all programs then at the very top select windows update it will take you to the windows update site allow it to scan your pc then select custom to view the updates you have available to install, all critical should be done.
This will not affect any thing you already have set for your automatic windows updates.
If you do have any updates you have blocked in the past it will alert you to that fact and ask if you want to unblock them at this time.
Now that you do have IE7 you do need to go ahead and go to the windows update site and get any updates that may be available for it.
