I'm not sure there is a setting to fix that, but, instead of just clicking on an item, you could right click and select "Open in a New Window." Then, after you have inspected the item, you can just close that page out and be back to the original page.

I'd guess your temporty internet folder index.dat file is corrupt. Clear browser cache and run one of the programs that will delete it. Then reboot. You probably not like to lose your cookies and saved login stuff, but that would be my next cleanup/delete.

Kudzu9...I see what you mean and it does work but not as quick and easy as clicking back and forth.

This may be something to do with the way the code is created for the site, I too find one auction site does that and it can be frustrating especially if it is a long page.

You could use Kudzu's suggestion but continue browsing the main page while the secondary page loads. I do that at times and can have 6 other pages opened before viewing them. Just a suggestion.

owbist.you may be on to something there. I just noticed that when i click on a posting here on this site to read, then hit the browser back, it does indeed go back to the item i clicked on.

Does the code you are referring to generate from my computer or from the web site.....if from the web site do you think it would do any good to contact them and ask them to fix it.??

Browser maybe is checking for changes on the page & and being that its an auction site with a long list of items maybe changed a price or tow or added an item so the Browser sees its different and loads then as a new page & as far as the browser is concerned its a totally new page so it starts at the top.

I know it seems like one more step, but it becomes very quick once you get a little practice in. It's also quite useful to have your original page sitting there separately so it doesn't get closed out by accident. I often have many things open and navigating through with the back arrow several times can get confusing.

that is indeed in the coding of the page you are visiting if it used to do that they have since changed the page code.
that is why you find some sites do it and some do not.

I had the same problem with the back arrow. Now when I want
to go back to the item I was viewing I right click in the
last reply and then chose BACK. It goes back and hesitates
for a brief moment then goes back to the item I was viewing
so I can continue checking the next iten(s). HTH

john4291, thanks for the reply...I tried your procedure but sad to say no luck...goes right back to the top of the page in the Lily Auction site.

I did send a question to the Lily Auction contact person and asked them why it was different because it had not done that before....they suggested that I may have had and update downloaded of some sort and that has had a effect on the coding, as ravencajun suggested.

I don't know how to check to see what has been updated. There was some updates that I allowed to come through about the time this problem started but I don't remember if they were HP,IE, Java or which.

Any one think I should try to look into the upgrade angle??

Well even if it were due to an upgrade there would be little you can do. The person who contacted you gave a stock answer that you had no way to dispute. Better to just move on perhaps and get used to a slightly lesser way of moving back and forth.
