Replace the batteries in the camera.

Though they are indeed quite similar it is unfortunate that all cameras are not the same.

Did the new camera come perhaps with a disc? Besides the traditional bundled software that comes with a new camera there may be a driver you failed to install. In simple terms the driver would allow the camera and the system to talk to one another. I am sure the owners manual will give you some guidance on that area.

If the camera use a SD card or a Flash card, take the card out of the camera and use a card reader to transfer pictures to the computer. Much easier to do it that way in my opinion . I never use the camera cable to connect the camera to the computer to transfer the pictures.

i agree much easier to use the card AND as soon as i download the photos i save them to an external hard drive. i thought i had lost all the pics from one of my trips. i just about panicked until i found the originals on the ex HD.

I only use a card reader to get my pics from my camera to my pc I will not load a bunch of junk programs on my pc that come with each type of camera they are not needed.
Card readers come on many pcs but to buy one that plugs in usb ports you can get them for $10 or less, I got mine free at buy.com with rebate offer.

I agree stargazzer I usually burn off a cd or dvd of them right off too.

Two suggestions:

1. A number of cameras have a specific setting on the function wheel (regular pictures, macro, video, etc.) for doing a transfer. Does this camera have such a setting?

2. Have you read the manual that comes with the camera? If you're still stuck, call tech support at Kodak.

I'm recharging the camera - it recharges by plugging into the computer.
Book says it takes 3 hours to charge. It's a Kodak M853 8.2

I hard wire and read my pictures. Either way it is no big deal. It just depends on how many I have and my mood. Personal choice I guess.

I agree with Ravencajun there is no need to install all the included bundled software as they are mostly duplicate in nature and lite in function. However, I do admit I have downloaded the bundled software on three different cameras out of morbid curiosity. I just tinkered with them to see if they offered anything new. Of all the applications available from the three bundles I kept only one and that was because it offered really easy picture stitching/panorama creation.

Also, absolutely get a copy of your pictures onto your storage of choice. I even know several people who double copy important pictures using two different media; flash drive and DVD. If you want to keep the originals on your system fine, but with copies you are protected.

if your software did not install properly you should probably go to control panel add remove programs and select to remove it there. Then you can either try to re-install it or just forget about it. My personal preference is to forget about it and go with a card reader. First are you sure your computer does not have a card reader built in to it? Most of the newer ones do. You take the little memory card out of the camera and insert it into the proper slot in the card reader. If you get a usb card reader it simply plugs into a usb port on your pc or a usb hub you have connected to your pc, then once it is ready you just insert the memory card from your camera into the reader. You can then copy the pics directly to the pc or do what ever you want to do with them.
Always remember when using any device that plugs into a usb port to use the safely remove icon down in the systray before unplugging from the usb port.

Too late.
Husband uninstalled Kodak
and than reinstalled it and
it seems to work OK now.
All my pictures came up.
It is on a program/page called Kodak Easyshare Software.
So I went to Webshots so I could upload the pictures.
I click on "Add Files"
That comes up as
"Look in"
-- Documents
--Desktop
--Network
--etc
Where would my pictures be?
I tried typing in Kodak easyshare software.
How do I transfer them to Webshots?

I have the Kodak M753 and could never get the stupid Kodak software to work. I use the Scanner and Camera wizard that comes with XP. I'm not sure that Vista has the same wizard. Moot point anyway since you got it working.

The systray is the area down below the clock those little icons down there, one of them if you hover your mouse over it will be the safely remove one, you always want to use this to make sure it is safe to remove your usb item from the port or it could corrupt the usb device and the pc.

I don't see if your slimline is an XP or a Vista. If it is Vista just a point of clarification. The System Tray is now called the Notification Area. Thought you might want to know if something else came up.
