Kodak to Webshots

hi Cheryl,
I didn't answer this yesterday because I was unsure what you meant. Are you talking about uploading photos to the Webshots website or adding the photos to your photo manager (locally)? If you are uploading directly to the website, how do you edit the pictures first? I think Webshots is too slow and prefer Photobucket for online storage.

I didn't relize I started a new post....

I use Webshots because I have over 1700 pictures on there.
- I grow a lot of plants.
Kodak was no help.
They want me to store at their website
or on the computer.
I already lost everything I had on
the Dell computer when it broke.

What I want to be able to do is,
take my pictures that are on my Kodac M853
and load them up to Webshots.com.
And I can't figure out how to do it.
We downloaded the Kodak software again
and all the pictures are on it in the computer.
But when I go to Webshots and go to upload,
the computer can't find the pictures........cheryl

If its as big as I think it is, it looks like a Neoregelia carcharodon cross, or possibly could be the species plant, itself. Sometimes the N. carcharodon can have an overall goldish tinge to it. Its always banded, has huge broad leaves (mine gets leaves 3-4 inches wide) with big black spines on the margins, and this plant can get really big. There are several crosses. ALthough I know this is not Yin or Yang, both of those have a carcharodon parent. I have 3 large charcarodons..."Tiger", "Silver Tiger" and the species. I have other plants with a carcharodon parent...."Tiger Head", "Yin", I think "Ninja" may have this as a parent (have to check). Are the Hannibal Lechter neos carcharodon descendants?? Have to check that too.

Photobucket has changed a bit since this thread first started in May 2006, so it's probably time for an update. I'll leave it to you to open your account at Photobucket (or whichever service you choose) and get photos uploaded from your computer to your page there. (If you have problems, email me at solstice98@att.net). Here's what your photos will look like at Photobucket: Instead of the 3 choices you used to have, now you'll see that there are 4 boxes under each photo. For posting directly into messages, click on the one that says "HTML code". You'll instantly see a little pop-up box that tells you it's "copied". Go back to the message you are typing into GardenWeb and click on where in the message you want the photo to appear. "Paste" it into that spot. You should see the html code (it's just text at this point, not an actual photo) that starts with a 'less than' sign and the word 'img'. Now when you click on "Preview Message" you should see your text as you've typed it and the photo. (If you can't see the photo then we won't see it when you sumbit the message either, so keep trying.) If instead of posting the picture for direct viewing in your message, you want to use the URL link boxes, then in Photobucket you would copy your image by clicking on the second box - the one that is labeled "Direct Link". That works but it forces readers to click on the link to get to your image. It's more fun to put it directly into the picture - instant view & instant gratification. If your photo shows up too large in GardenWeb, then just go back to Photobucket and edit the size. Click on 'edit', then 'resize' once the picture opens. 'Message Board' is obviously a nice size for message boards, but if you have graphic images, logos or little animations, then you can go smaller. Your image will automatically change once the message is posted to GardenWeb so you don't have to change anything there. If you rename, move or delete your photo in Photobucket, the connection is lost in GardenWeb because you aren't really putting the picture there; you are just putting code into the message that tells the computer to pull up and insert the photo there. Well, I have to wait for my PODS to arrive here on Dec.1st and then find my Sony cord to connect camera to computer. Why I lost touch with that and not in my computer bag, I haven't a clue. I took all these lovely pictures of my three original hosta still all pretty and nice in the garden bed covered with leaves, and duhhhhhh, there they sit untouchable in the Sony camera. The new Nikon P500 arrives on Nov 29th, I think Tuesday, and after I charge the battery, I'll be reshooting the same garden shots. As direct a comparison as I can make, provided we don't have a terrific freeze before then. I got a monopod and a tilting ball head. Incidentally, I decided on the Nikon because of my hands. I must have broken my left hand while loading the PODS to move, and it is quite painful and will not do things as it should. Not knowing if I will regain an adequate degree of use for a heavy camera, I opted to go with one having a fairly long zoom lens w/o so much weight. Being left-handed I've always been more ambidexterous than many folks who are right-handed, but some things you just MUST have both hands working right. Like pruning with hand clippers.

just stop using the kodac software, get a nice cheap card reader that will take the type of memory card that is in your camera, plug the card reader into your usb port on your pc, stick the memory card into the appropriate slot in the card reader when the box comes up with choices select to copy to file browse to the file on your pc you want to keep your pictures, you need to put them on the pc, there is already a file on your pc called my pictures that is the one I use, select the file you want and then follow the directions it will copy the pics from the memory card onto your pc. then you go to webshots do exactly what you have been doing and when it brings up the browse box simply browse right to that file you just put the pics in and voila there you are. It just can not get much easier.
If you think you can not remember where the file is then just create a new folder on your desktop and store all your pics in that folder, to do that right click on your desktop and select new then folder, you can rename it to Pictures or what ever you want. then from webshots go to that folder and access your pictures.

You can get a card reader just about anywhere, any electronics store will have them, radio shack, even big lots has them. Just look for one that will take your specific type of card and make sure it says it is usb 2.0.

I would still suggest saving the pictures to your computer, then reviewing and re-naming them before uploading to webshots. I usually just use the Windows Scanner and Camera Wizard (located in Control Panel) to remove the pictures from my camera via the USB cable. I like to organize by subject abd download pictures into folders so that I can *eventually* find them when I need to. âº I guess a card reader is similar.

I have Kodak and it automatically downloads to a file called "Kodak" in "my pictures". Hope this helps!
