Saving My Webshots

I love Webshots but...if they remove a photo from their archives - it's gone, maybe forever. I had some photos I'd had for a couple of years, then there was a problem and suddenly all my pics disappeared. When they finally restored my account many of my favorites were gone and since they only store a rather limited amount in their archives (which I can understand) - I couldn't understand why they could not restore older pictures I had already downloaded.

Anyway, how can I save them to my hard drive or a flash drive so I won't lose them forever? Thanks.

Not sure 'where' you want to save them 'from'?

If from the webshots site itself .. Right Click on a picture that you want to save.

A drop-down menu should come up that gives you the option to save the picture.

If your saving from your camera .. then I'm guessing that you already know how to do that.

If you want to save to a flash/thumb drive .. Everything that I said in the first set of instructions apply except .. in the drop-down menu .. there should be a choice that asks you 'where' you want to save the photo to and one of the choices should be the flash/thumb drive .. "If it's already plugged in".

I'm sorry, I don't think I explained that very well. Let me try again. I've used WS for many years and save pictures from their gallery to The Webshots Desktop on my computer. If I download a pic it goes into a folder there but I can't transfer FROM Webshots Desktop to for example, Picassa which I use for my camera or other pictures I download from other blogs or sites. Webshots does not give you that option - If I right click on something I want to download it says "Send on ecard or View on Web or View Full Screen or Set Wallpaper or Edit Media or Delete File."

Those are the options ~ suggestion?

I think it is probably lack of water or temps. I am leaning towards temps, just because you said they were ventricosa and they are the sherman tanks of nepenthes. The brown spots look to originate from the veins which seems to tell me that the issue is from within and not an external attack. Ventricosa is technically a highland nepenthes. Although it will grow like a weed in most any condition. That tells me that humidity is probably not the issue since I grow mine if lower humidity. The next possibility is tempurature. You are in zone 9, how cold does it get there during the winter? Most neps, with the exception of a very few (2 that I know of khasiana and lamii [i think]) can withstand temps below 45. I had a ventrata burn at the growth points this fall when temps got below 50. It is doing fine now and started to branch and vine as a result, but I was nervous for a few weeks. (I haven't lost a nep yet.) Ventricosa if a very forgiving plant when it comes to water and light, but you should never let a nep dry out. Which judging by your experience, I am guessing is not the issue. That is what keeps leading me to tempurature. If that is the case, I think as long as you give them attention and get back to optimal conditions, they should bounce back. Leaves may die, but as long as new growth appears, then you should be ok. In it's weakened state try not to overwater. If leaves are dying, this is food for fungus now all it needs is a nice drink. If it is lack of water, then you should be fine too. Just make sure not to water log it for the same reasons as just mentioned. A little more light may help during the healing phase if the pitchers weren't already a reddish color before this problem. Otherwise, light is just right. Hope this helps...

Hwy Superman, awesome photos! My new neighbor in the South Valley has a couple of palms in his yard and they're doing pretty good. If they survive the winter, I think I'll get a couple. I'm not sure, but I think there's yet another even larger saguaro in the valley - down on 2nd and Prosperity. I'll check it out tonight when I make my car payment. I've wondered what it was and when I saw the saguaro photo of yours, I thought it might be one. It's about 12 feet tall.

Forgive me for being off-topic, but I was looking at your instructions for preparing plant markers. I'm not sure what a "dark hanger" is. I assume it's some sort of wire clothes hanger, so if that's it, i'll have to get some from a dry cleaner (traumatized from watching "Mommie Dearest"). Anyway, it appears that you looped it behind the label. How long a piece of wire is it? What size of marker do you cut from the lid, and how many can you get from one? Me being in Canada, I'm not sure if I can get Folgers, so I guess some local brand will do...so I'll have to get stocked up. Thanks in advance for the help!

just stop using the kodac software, get a nice cheap card reader that will take the type of memory card that is in your camera, plug the card reader into your usb port on your pc, stick the memory card into the appropriate slot in the card reader when the box comes up with choices select to copy to file browse to the file on your pc you want to keep your pictures, you need to put them on the pc, there is already a file on your pc called my pictures that is the one I use, select the file you want and then follow the directions it will copy the pics from the memory card onto your pc. then you go to webshots do exactly what you have been doing and when it brings up the browse box simply browse right to that file you just put the pics in and voila there you are. It just can not get much easier. If you think you can not remember where the file is then just create a new folder on your desktop and store all your pics in that folder, to do that right click on your desktop and select new then folder, you can rename it to Pictures or what ever you want. then from webshots go to that folder and access your pictures. You can get a card reader just about anywhere, any electronics store will have them, radio shack, even big lots has them. Just look for one that will take your specific type of card and make sure it says it is usb 2.0.

You could send each as an ecard but I suspect that will generate a smaller photo and probably lower quality.

I would use the option to bring it to full screen
click the PRNT SCRN button (next to F12)
open Paint (click Start/Accessories/Paint)
in Paint click Edit
click Paste in the drop down menu
click File
click Save and give it a name and location to save to
Done.

I subscribe and pay for Webshots Premium and was delightfully surprised to find that when I downloaded the Webshots Desktop on my new computer...all of my collections downloaded also!

If that is not your situation, your collections should be located in the Webshots Data folder stored in your My Documents folder. You could copy the collections to a CD or flash drive and use Webshots to open them. I don't think that you can save individual photos that you downloaded because they are copyrighted.
