dish drawer problem

My dishdrawer is not draining all the way. Now I have 6 inches of water on the floor of the dishwasher. I tried running a cycle to get rid of the water but it stopped part way through and beeped. I opened the drawer and found the 6 inches of water. How do I get that to drain?

LOL, unlikely you have six inches of water in the drawer. That's 3 to 4 inches higher than the vent opening in back (behind where plates load), so you'd have water running all over your kitchen floor.

Does the DD's pump motor run? The first thing it should do when starting a cycle afresh is run a short drain period. Nothing comes out of the drain hose?

What model do you have? DD601, 602, 603, or 605?

Interesting. I just looked in there and saw that vent opening. I could swear that the water really was higher than that vent! I bailed it out. There is no water on the floor. The motor does run. I ran another cycle after bailing out the water, but the water is still just as high as the level I was able to bail to.

How does one know if anything is coming out the drain hose. I am not sure which model. I will get out the manual in the morning. I have a repair man coming on Tues. Its still under warranty. He came once before, ordered parts, and it stopped doing this. Then when I told him it was okay....it started up again.

I'm assuming the OP is referring to moisture condensation along the inside edge of the door panel, outside the lid sealing area. My DD does that occasionally (meaning I don't notice it very often). Enough moisture to justify wiping, but not so much that it wouldn't dry if left alone. I notice it more often if I open the drawer within a couple hours after the blower has shut off. There is still some moisture inside from puddles in bowl rims, cup bottoms, etc, which will evaporate and may cause some minor condensation depending on environmental conditions. The blower on my DD runs for 30 mins after the point that the lid opens and cycle has "officially" ended. Per JudeNY's post, the lid-lock feature can be activated which leaves it closed after the cycle ends until the user manually unlocks it (although the blower will still shut off after 30 mins). Keep in mind that the Fast cycle runs the blower for minimal time or not at all, so there will be considerably more moisture left after that cycle. Barnfield, some DD603 models have a programmable "Enhanced Drying" option that leaves the lid closed and the blower running for four hours. Check your user manual for details on whether your unit has that option, it may help minimize your moisture situation.

A small blower (as you probably know) runs during the dry period to pull room air through the DD and exhaust the residual heat/moisture. The vent is at front/center beneath the DD. Depending on where/how your storage drawer is positioned in relation to your DD's exhaust, you're probably having some warm/humid air seep into the drawer. Leaving the storage drawer ajar as you've been doing allows it to dissipate better. Doubtful there's anything wrong with your DD. Probably the only workaround is to cancel the DD cycle when the drying phase starts and pull it fully open for flash-drying instead of the normal airflow drying. Note that if you do that, the DD's pump will likely run in drain mode for a minute or so when the DD is next closed.

I had problems with mine last fall, brand new. They kept adjusting the drain line. Finally, they sent another tech. It turned out the "eye" was partially covered by the black seal that goes around the drawer. We have the wood panels that match our cabinets, and I guess we waited to put the seal on after the cabinet man came. He just pulled them off and restuck them. It has worked perfectly ever since. So, it is worth a try see if the sensor is obscured.

UPDATE After reading comments here, I thought it worth my while to read the service manual cover to cover. Enduring's suggestion to see if there was an error code displayed lead me to try reprogramming the top drawer to turn on when the drawer was opened (like the bottom drawer would do). In trying to do this, I discovered that I couldn't; I also read in the manual that there were two separate circuit panels (duh, one for each drawer). Since the top drawer wasn't responding to re-programming, I felt the circuit panel was bad. So when the F/P serviceman showed up this morning, I told him this; he also tried to program the top drawer and was unsuccessful. He ended up replacing the circuit panel in the top drawer and was able to get it to work. He stated the circuit panel was weak and that's what was causing the problem with the top drawer turning on, but not starting. He ran a rinse cycle and everything worked like it should (Houston we have lift-off!) No sooner did he leave, I ran a fast cycle and so happy with the result- sparkling, clean dishes. Thanks one and all for your support and help! PS I did buy the service contract with Sears; just for peace of mind...PQ

You should (typically) hear water gurgling in your sink's drain when the DD is draining. Or you could disconnect the drain hose from where it attaches under your sink and run it into a bucket, if you feel up to giving that a try.

It's possible the water was up to the vent, there's a deflector mounted behind it to help prevent water from spilling out ... although it still would overflow at some point and/or from sloshing when the drawer moved. Once it overflows, the machine's flood-sensor (in bottom of the cabinet) would trigger.

Open the upper drawer, there may be a model/serial sticker at the left just above the lower drawer.
