hey, it's ok... it's a good subject to raise in the first place. FWIW, many other manufacturers have a similar insane inability to coordinate their employees and there is little to no communication among them on this subject. As it's not a deal-breaker, it's not an attention-grabber, for them. Probably one person wrote the spec's and didn't include opening the bins fully as one of their main criteria. - Someone else chose the hinges and designed the door using other criteria. - Someone else wrote the marketing text and has to find a way to make it seem like it's not a problem, and they may not have the right to suggest future product modifications. In one company they say you cannot slide the bins out but actually you CAN. That was probably written by a marketing person who didn't go look see physically on their own. Some of the appliance salespeople in the store are willing to say you CAN open the bins but just barely, sp this shows they may have done the look-see on their own, and not memorized the text. When I called the fridge company's tech support people, they all said what the text said, instead of "what reality said." A bigger example of this is with IKEA's kitchen cabinets (cabinets, I don't know about the IKEA fridge) -- they say you will need 125 degree opening hinges in order to have pullout bins in a base cabinet, but actually you can get by with the standard hinges very well. (!) Furthermore, in all the IKEA stores the employees all say this too even though they can be shown n the store that the standard hinges open the door enough to let a bin slide out. The reaction you get is one of "cognitive dissonance" since they have been trained to believe the opposite. My observations. Summary: At some point in the far far future, fridge doors will open 90 degrees and also let bins out. Perhaps it will be done by having three bins, two on sliders and one like a sealed tupperware container that you pick up with both hands and twist out of the corner. -david

When researching the F&P dishdrawers, one interesting comment that was made that really hit home for me was something along the lines of "if you are going to get dish drawers, why NOT get the ones made by the company that has been doing it the longest and has the benefit of its own research and improvements". So, I thought about that, and did some more research and learned that indeed F&P did have some issues earlier, but worked hard to improve and correct any problems. I bought the F&P dish drawers about a year ago and couldn't be happier. Just the other night they once again proved themselves to me: in the top drawer I put in a scraped of large chunks only dish that I made scalloped potatoes in and in the bottom were the baffles (greasy) from the range hood. Everything was sparkling when done.

Well, it looks like I am the newest member of the disgruntled KA wall oven owner club. Ran the self clean cycle on our 1 year old, still under warranty, KA wall oven. 3 hours into the cycle I noticed that there were no indicator lights on the control panel - the oven was dead and the door was locked. I waited a few hours to allow the oven to cool down and followed the web-based procedures to unlock the door but nothing has worked. I've flipped the breaker off, waited several minutes and flipped it back on (did this a few times believing each time that something magical would happen) but the oven is still locked and nothing works. Finally, I called KA/Whirlpool and waited 45 minutes to speak to someone in customer service. After patiently waiting I was finally connected. We spent some time verifying that my oven was still under warranty (with 5 days to spare!) and documenting my problem. Once it was determined that she could not resolve the problem with weasel words I was told that it would be 2 weeks before a repairman could come. When I politely but firmly protested she transferred me to a technical representative who also was unable to resolve my issue but did confirm the 2 week lead time for the service call. I am now in the waiting period with a locked oven door. If anyone has a suggestion as to how to unlock it beyond the breaker on-off trick, I welcome your input. I will continue with chapter 2 once our repairman arrives.

Yes we are having problems with noises with the Kitchen Aid with lower freezer/French door ‘ Cabinet depth. This has barely been used (in place 12 months but we have been out of state so used for maybe 4 months) they told us to change out the filter (at $50) did that and still making noise....service man on the way - out 1 week. So annoying after paying so much for this fridge. Other than that we have loved it ....so keeping fingers crossed! I don’t see the sense in disconnecting the line if this is what you paid for to use - I love having ice/water in my door...so not an options for me. Although I do have to add, since this is so close to the warranty of course expired 1 month ago....they are taking care of the parts/labor that is needed to fix. So with that I would say their customer service seems accommodating to me. :-)
