Problem with FP DishDrawer

Hoping someone can help out with this, or at least has the same problem!

My FP DD unit is about 1 yr old now, and for some time now at the end of every cycle when you open the drawer there is water collecting on the top rim of the drawer (along the front).

Both drawers do this.

It's not just a little moisture, either, it's enough that you have to mop it up with a towel...

It's annoying! And I'm sure if I didn't clean it up after every time, that mold and mildew would grow.

Anyone have the same issue?

I've never had that problem. If no suggestions here, maybe call FP and see if they have any quick checks. Their customer service people are pretty nice.

Is the unit level? I wonder if the top got tilted forwards ever so slightly so water doesn't run back like it ought.

I would check the level as well. What kind of a floor is it on? Could the floor have sagged? Could the attachment point inside have moved?

Call their hotline-they have good customer service, and the aussie accent is fun!

I use 1 tsp detergent in the prewash cup, 3 tsp in the main wash cup. Perhaps 2 tsp for the prewash in very heavy-soil situations, and/or maybe 4 tsp for the main wash. Skip the prewash dose for very light-soil loads and perhaps on shorter cycles (Normal Eco or Delicate Eco) Always skip the prewash dose on Fast or Fast Eco cycles as they do not run a prewash at all. I do not have a household water softener. Some years ago a softener salesman came calling, his test came up 9 grains hardness. However, I'm currently using a supply of Institutional Cascade with chlorine bleach (and phosphates) that I bought online a couple years ago, and Cascade Complete with enzymes (and phosphates) that I found at back of the shelf at a local grocery. Phosphates makes a difference. The bleach formula works wonders on tea and tomato stains. Enzyme formula for heavy soiling if the bleach effect isn't needed for the load. Non-phosphate detergents may require a little higher dose to deal with water conditions, as the ingredients that were substituted for phosphates may not deal as effectively with mineral content in water. Prerinsing dishware can promote glass etching because the more caustic detergent ingredients end up at a higher concentration in the water without food soils present. Scrape off chunks and debris but do not rinse. I don't think increasing rinse agent dosage will necessarily help your situation but it's something to try. Adjust rinse aid (assuming 603 series) -- - With drawer power ON, press and HOLD the Eco button, then press Lock at the same time until another beep occurs. Release the buttons. - rA should appear on the LCD - The cycle selector lights indicate dosage level. Heavy cycle light is lowest dosage, toward ALL the lights for highest dosage. - Press Lock repeatedly to adjust the dosage. - Press Power when done. (There are other options that can be adjusted -- AP AutoPower, EC number of end-of-cycle beeps, Ld auto lid-lock, dS clean-dishes indicator. A small blower (as you probably know) runs during the dry period to pull room air through the DD and exhaust the residual heat/moisture. The vent is at front/center beneath the DD. Depending on where/how your storage drawer is positioned in relation to your DD's exhaust, you're probably having some warm/humid air seep into the drawer. Leaving the storage drawer ajar as you've been doing allows it to dissipate better. Doubtful there's anything wrong with your DD. Probably the only workaround is to cancel the DD cycle when the drying phase starts and pull it fully open for flash-drying instead of the normal airflow drying. Note that if you do that, the DD's pump will likely run in drain mode for a minute or so when the DD is next closed.

That's the tricky part--everyone has different dishes! I do plates and bowls in the row behind the silverware basket, cups and glasses on the left side, and the coffee pot right in front of the soap holder, which makes it really hard to open to fill with soap. The little wings get flipped down and hold plastic kid bowls and sippy cups and the occasional spatula.

DishDrawers have a flood sensor on the mains board in the bottom panel of the cabinet. Flood condition triggers the pump into drain mode, typically both drawers simultaneously. If your unit flooded then there may be some residual water in the lower panel. Oversudsing can result in suds leaking out of the tub through the air vent behind where plates load, which then drips down to the bottom and condenses to moisture. Remove the lower drawer (assuming a double-drawer unit), check for water. Mop it up if any and dry the base thoroughly with a hairdryer. False flood conditions can trigger by a bad mains board, wonky flood sensor. Only one pump may run in some cases instead of both. What model is your unit?

Mine have been in operation almost 3 years and water has always collected along the top rim of the drawer on all sides, in the space where the cover fits during operation. Sometimes it's more than others and I thought it had something to do with how long the drawer was closed after the cycle finished. I lock the cover on the top drawer so it doesn't open at the end of the cycle until I explicitly unlock it before opening the drawers. I don't lock the bottom drawer and there might be less water on the edge there.

I thought this was normal operation. If you find it's not, please post back with the fix.

I'm assuming the OP is referring to moisture condensation along the inside edge of the door panel, outside the lid sealing area. My DD does that occasionally (meaning I don't notice it very often). Enough moisture to justify wiping, but not so much that it wouldn't dry if left alone. I notice it more often if I open the drawer within a couple hours after the blower has shut off. There is still some moisture inside from puddles in bowl rims, cup bottoms, etc, which will evaporate and may cause some minor condensation depending on environmental conditions.

The blower on my DD runs for 30 mins after the point that the lid opens and cycle has "officially" ended. Per JudeNY's post, the lid-lock feature can be activated which leaves it closed after the cycle ends until the user manually unlocks it (although the blower will still shut off after 30 mins). Keep in mind that the Fast cycle runs the blower for minimal time or not at all, so there will be considerably more moisture left after that cycle.

Barnfield, some DD603 models have a programmable "Enhanced Drying" option that leaves the lid closed and the blower running for four hours. Check your user manual for details on whether your unit has that option, it may help minimize your moisture situation.
