3M Command Adhesive Hooks for outdoors?

Hi Everyone,

I just had my house vinyl-sided and it looks great! I have a few clematis that I normally train up strings or guide wires that, in the past, I used little cup hooks near the roofline. I don't want to start making holes in my brand new siding, so I was thinking of using the 3M Command Adhesive Hooks for water resistant areas (like bathrooms, I guess). Any idea on how this would work? Has anyone tried this? Or should I just bite the bullet and hammer in a cup hook? So painful! Thanks for any and all replies. You guys are all so smart!

I use the small white ones in a bathroom to hold the ribbons back for the shower curtains and I've also used the larger white ones (size of hook is determined by pound strength) to hold up portable fluorescent lighting strips. Both are used on surfaces I didn't want damaged and they've been great. Haven't budged since I put them up. If it was my house, debra, they are what I would use for the netting and try to never nail through the siding.

Loved your idea Murphy. The quilt has been hanging for about three weeks and it is still there. LOL Here is a pic of the setup I used. I didn't glue the magnets on, I figured if they slid, I would do that then. But no prob so far. And here is the quilt. Thanks for everyone's input!

Here's a weird one. I just had my house vinyl-sided and would like to use one of these 3M Command adhesive hangers to hold up a few guide wires for my clematis to climb up! I don't want to puncture holes in my siding! But does 3M make these hooks to work outdoors? I guess there is a water-resistant one that folks like that I can try. What do you all think? Any suggestions helpful.

We are in the middle of getting our house sided, so no decorating is happening outdoors at the moment :). The Command hooks are up & working - thanks again for the suggestion! lefleur1 - we have the icicle looking lights for the windows. I think I've seen short light strands lots of places - drugstores, Target, Walmart, home improvement centers - however at this point in the season, pickings are slim.

We have one of these Over the glass hook that I was going to install turned inward for shower scrunchies but our glass wall turned out to be too tall for it to work for short me. So we turned it outward and use it to hold the bath mat. They also have a style that is installed through the glass. May not work for you but I thought I'd mention them as I had not seen them before our shower glass company showed them to us.
