Washcloths - what do you use to hang yours in the shower?
Comments (58)Apparently I'm not the only (or first) person to ask this question...we just built a home with our first-ever tiled shower and we still need to order towel bars (We're just draping them over a wash stand in the meantime, which does the job but looks messy). I'm debating whether to include 12" bars to install in the showers themselves (master and guest), for drying wash cloths as I use them to wash my face, and guests may appreciate this too. I didn't realize there was such an "eww" factor with using wash cloths, but I don't use a fresh one each time because a) We hang our bath towels to dry between uses and a wash cloth is no different; b) Our laundry hamper is not plastic and I don't want to throw a wet cloth in a woven grass basket; c) I only do laundry once per week or so as it's just the two of us, so a wet cloth would sit in the basket for several days and we'd quickly run out, because; d) our wash cloths match our towels and we have only a limited number of these (and because "a" we have no reason to buy more). My only reason to change cloths between laundry loads would be if it becomes so saturated with soap that it's ineffective in rinsing my face. Back to the actual towel bar...My main trepidation is putting holes in the tile, which may cause leaks even if it doesn't crack the tile. We have a partial wall outside the shower door that is most practical place to mount our bath towel bar, so we'll have to install the bars over tile regardless. I hadn't considered the silicone option, which may be viable for this as a small bar will be lightweight. I don't like plastic hooks or anything cheap or temporary-looking, and a dry cloth would just fall off the hook. Right now I just drape it over a ledge we had built in, but of course it doesn't dry as quickly and I'd rather have something tidier-looking....See MoreChrome hooks for Shower? Comments (11)writersblock - my tiles have a slight texture, and the semi-complex oxo suction cup hook I had in the pre-remodel shower doesn't stay up anymore. Do you use just a very plain suction hook? olychick - thank you so much for that info! I had been wondering about those, as I thought they would be great to try out a certain position of hook before I commit, and if they end up working I could just be done with the whole thing. I'm not sure they come in a chrome-like finish, but I may try them anyway. :)...See MoreMaster bath suite DONE!!!
Comments (44)boymom, don't know if you visit this forum any longer, but if you do.... our vanity will be similar to yours in stlye and i am currently debating whether to do a single long mirrow, or 2 separate framed(with cabinet molding ~ 24x 42) with a double sconce on the wall in between.(ours is also under a soffit which we'll put recessed lights into) do you find you like the lighting of the sconces off the mirror? does the reflection bother you at all???...See Moreold-new-old, bath-shower-bath
Comments (13)Thank you for being excited with me! I knew I was in the right place. xo I'm so excited about your daughter and her stories, sherrmann -- happy April homecoming! My "helper" and I took a few snaps and it has literally taken us >two hours to upload due to the "help." The pregnant mask didn't photograph well -- maybe once it's hung. Thank you again for your encouragement. The Yoruba money tree, with the Mali Wedding Beads (which came back in my luggage as I occasionally wore / wear them) The multi-colored beaded crown The blue bird crown The 6 3/4" wide diviners' belt -- I am totally going to wear this one! The top of the multi-colored crown Vinyl heishi beads -- again, came back in my luggage because I wore them, and now a santo does -- he's so cute Venetian trading beads (one of too-many strands), again came home with me as I wore them jumbled on A yak bone bracelet given me by a villager I befriended in Tsadorje, the Himalayas and an African carved ivory bracelet (purchased in France), the African necklace slung over the chair is another of the dozens purchased in France. I was never, ever able to wear the ivory bracelet, but here on the lamp it doesn't hurt my animal-loving soul And you know, that stuff about my mother (and father, to be perfectly fair for he was a part of it all) doesn't matter. It used to, and it was painful. However for the past many years it just hasn't mattered. I'm not sure precisely when or how, but one day I woke up and realized the wound had healed and the scar is barely visible: when a story with them / their actions comes up it's merely an additional flavor, never the heart of the story. I got over nursing that one a long time ago. I guess because I know them when I wrote what she'd done it was just a piece of the story, certainly not the main part. No biggee. We haven't had a relationship for years, if ever. While I've never actively forgiven them I also no longer care, if that makes sense. I have bigger fish to fry! (mtnrdredux knows I have set my sights on health insurance. Just this week they denied my son's wheelchair saying it's less expensive for them to chance him being hit by a car than fund the pediatric wheelchair. Now this makes my blood boil.) Thank you all again for sharing my old-new-old with me! Je vous remercie -- bon weekend!...See Morepattyl11
