You can buy packs of suction cups. I used to put strings of lights in all the windows facing the street using suction cups.

Try using the Command Adhesive hooks. They are easily removed when the season is over.

I have used my cutain rods to support my lights and weave the light strings thru. Now I use my blind hooks to hold the strings but command hooks work wonderfully if you can not use your existing window treatment hardware.

Another vote for the small command adhesive hooks that are made for holding cable or wiring. They are clear, and remove easily once you are done with them. Won't damage wood or painted surfaces.

Thank you very much for the replies - never heard of Command Adhesive hooks, and couldn't find a pack of suction cups. I think I will look for the command hooks today and give those a try, as the suction cups fall off sometimes anyway. Great to know they don't damage wood or painted surfaces, as we have new windows & fresh paint this season. Thanks again!

Last week, my neighbor recommended Command hooks for this very purpose. His lights look lovely, by the way!

I only have *long* strings of lights. Where do you buy lights that are short enough to fit a window????

You can get shorter lengths - 25, 50, etc. You can even get batter operated (think a lighted wreath).In the past, I have found them at Target.

I've never hung lights INSIDE on windows - only outside. But the command hooks are good and I think they would work fine for the job.

Light strings come in many sizes. I can't believe I used to hang the lights inside. And I was so anal about all the bulbs facing the center of the window. Then after Christmas the white lights came down and I put up Mardi Gras lights. And I was still working back then. Zero interest in doing that these days, but it sure looked pretty ... inside and out. ;)

I was in Walmart the other day buying some indoor lights and they came in packages of 20 on up.

We are in the middle of getting our house sided, so no decorating is happening outdoors at the moment :). The Command hooks are up & working - thanks again for the suggestion!
lefleur1 - we have the icicle looking lights for the windows. I think I've seen short light strands lots of places - drugstores, Target, Walmart, home improvement centers - however at this point in the season, pickings are slim.
