Fergus will talk about shape, textures, color, scale, repetition, and maintenance of plant compositions. He will show how to put plants together and then edit the selection to come up with the final picture. Quick question on the Rhode Island Flower Show - has anyone attended the Garden/Landscape Designer Forums at the show? It sounds good, but I wonder how enthusiastic the designers can be.

The lecture schedule at the RI show is pretty disappointing this year. Roger Swain and Roger Cook are the headliners, and (no offence, I hope) neither one seems all that interesting. Chuck Carberry is speaking on Friday 2/23 at 2 PM; he's an LA who designed the new botanic garden for Roger WIlliams Park in Provdence.

I'm still planning to go - probably to see Carberry; maybe when it gets closer, we can see if enough NE forum members will be there at once to try to meet for lunch. Or, maybe, to wear funny hats, so we can recognize each other...

DTD - yes the lecture series at RI Flower Show doesn't seem the most exciting but I've never been disappointed by a talk there. I am planning to go with my husband and MIL to the show on Saturday 2/24.

You should also check out the demonstration schedule. I've been pleasantly surprised by some of the demostrations I've gone to. Last year I went to a talk on Steptocarpus plants by Molly Dugger Brennan. She is speaking on Orchids this year.
