ART WALK — Oct. 15, 2011
Yerba Buena Gallery Walk, 4-7 p.m.

Lace up your sneakers and explore the Yerba Buena Neighborhood through the Yerba Buena Gallery Walk. The Museum of Craft and Folk Art Wrapping Traditions exhibition (pictured) is one of the 17 galleries participating in the event. See emerging, contemporary, and established artists of all mediums in one of San Francisco's most dynamic arts communities. Enjoy free admission and refreshments along the way.
The gallery walk is in partnership with Yerba Buena Night, a free outdoor event with performance, art, music and dance. A champagne reception at One Hawthorne will kick off the walk. RSVP to info@yerbabuena.org.

The craft fair happens in tandem with PS 11′s Fall Festival, a fundraising event to help keep their amazing art programs alive. Forty percent of every vendor booth fee will go directly to the school. Shop, stroll, and eat — the perfect Saturday combination.

Appetite for Design: Inspiration Kitchens

Head to Chicago for inspiration of the best kind — food! Inspiration Kitchens is a program that provides food service training and job placement for Chicagoans in need. The Garfield Park location is a 2011 Regional winner of the Social Economic Environmental Design competition and Recipient of the 2011 Chicago Association of Realtors’ Good Neighbor Award.
Saturday night, join Larry Kearns and executive chef David Rosenthall as they discuss how they came to design the 7,300-square-foot space, which houses an 80-seat restaurant and culinary training facility in a 1906 manufacturing building.
Also learn about how the Inspiration Kitchens program inspired the design, and feast on a four-course dinner. On the menu? Honey-lime glazed scallops with pickled beet ribs, and sweet potato bread pudding with spiced peach compote and more. Yum!
