grape jelly confusion!

fleurdelis

I have some unknown variety of grapes growing in my backyard. They are purple and have seeds and are not very good for fresh eating, but my grandmother made jelly out of them years ago and it worked well. Ten years later now, Grandma has passed, and I would like to try myself, but am getting conflicting instructions/advice. First, do I remove the seeds before cooking to extract the juice? I inherited a cone shaped colander that I know grandma used, but I don't remember if she lined it with anything like a jelly bag. Any advice would really help! Thanks

Janet
