Question on canning soup

I am new to canning and would like to try canning my homemade bean and bacon soup. My question is this: My "secret" ingredient that my family loves is that I add a box of instant mashed potatoes to my soup... So does this mean I can't can it because the instant potatoes thicken it up? Most information I'm reading says no thickeners...but thought maybe it was only referring to flour-based or egg-based thickeners, but since I'm using mashed potatoes and potatoes can be canned, I thought maybe I could do it. What do you think? I am making the soup right now and was hoping to can the leftovers.
