Mesterhazy Zsolt 2010 conifer harvest Volume 2

Dear Friends,

after Halloween coming to the years end its time to close the annual conifer harvest. Some of them are known from the �Just found" threads, but in one it was not known. I�d like to introduce here 48 new conifers, which were earlier not found by nobody.

This harvest speeks about a new way in conifer breeding. I�m seeking for aged plants in forms, sports and colours in silent suburban areas � even in cemeteries � where conifers have unlimited and undisturbed time to grow as they like it. Lets see, what could happen with conifers in this circumstances� As you see, very much.

Conifers are ever, live much longer as men. If I select a 50 years old giant dwarf, I save this time of my life � and I will never have 50 years to wait for a seedling. I know, that other breeders find other conifers in the wild, but they make the same � save time by selecting 30-50-70 years old ready plants � or even 1000 years, as Jerry Morris found a bristlecone pine dwarf aged at 1000. We have to collect from the historial times.

All plants are selected by me in 2010, all are published by me in Conifer Treasury of Hungary 1.1 in 2011, all are first introduced by Toth Gyula in Godollo HUN in 2011, and all photos are made by me. I give the names with a short description. MPH is the trade mark of me, as Mesterhazy Pinetum Hungary.

Lemonade sports found on a Chamaecyparis lawsoniana Globus hedge in Budapest. Keeps his globose form in a surprising colour: more than freshgreen and less than gold. This is the shaped lemonade, more intensive in sunny sides.

The gardener owner of this cypress found it in 1975 on her mother�s tomb, and planted later to the house garden. A vital, rough european cypress seedling with a fresh green character in a world, where this cypress is likely wanted to be fastigiate, super columnar. Not this one, who remains the good old times, as Cupressus sempervirens had her own natural life. Named by the owner�s granddaughter, who is 3 years old.
