Daylilies 101 (warning: total newb w/lots of ???)

Once again I find myself doing things backwards when it comes to gardening! I bought some daylilies off of the Lily Auction. They were shipped yesterday, which means that they should arrive today or tomorrow. The auctioneer mentioned soaking the bulbs before planting. Do I just immerse the bulbs in water? Do I put the entire bulb in water or just the bottom half? Should it be water or a solution (water and bleach?) How long do I soak them? What do I do with them if I can't plant them until the weekend?

When I go to plant them, are they like irises, where I should not plant them deep? How far apart should I plant them?

Sorry for the total barrage of newbie questions! Any advice is much appreciated.
