how long to regrow roots to hold itself up

i have a 7 foot weeping larch .. larix ... trained rather poorly to that height ...

with excessive spring growth and probably this winter ice strom from heck ....... it has decided to lean about 30 degrees ....

somehow or another.. the roots have given way on the side away from the lean ...

it easily can be pulled back ... and a rather large stake will maintain it at that position ....

the question is.. how long will i have to look at that stake .... can a tree/conifer ... actually regrow enough root mass to hold itself up.. IN MY LIFE TIME ...

its not really in a location where i want to be looking at a stake for more than 2 seasons ....

i have two options... other than a decade of looking at the stake ...

first.. cut it back to 2 feet ... and retrain a new leader .... which would give it a few years for root growth .. before the tree gets big enough to again stress the root mass ... if in fact it will regrow the requisite roots ...

or B .... hook a chain on it.. and drag it around town for a week, cursing the day i ever bought it ...

no real option for replacement ... no budget ...
