Comments (8)Pauline, It is a weeping Fuschia Meidiland. It has tons of flowers in April. It's branches have "weeped" to the ground in years past, but I pruned it back a bit this year. I am hoping to find a Scarlet Meidiland, with red flowers. I picked this one up in California one year, when I was over there. That particular grower did not ship. Comments (6)I love standards - I have had lots but have diminished through many reasons, frost in the early days, deer devistation in later years and in between three whole heavey heads snapped off in heavey snow. I still have in the front, high standards as you are describing 5'. Two Flower CArpet and two Pearl Mediland(sp) I had four flower carpet - (one left) it was the weight of the snow that got them. Had four Crysler Imperial, frost got them and four double delight, deer saw them off, one is hanging in - should have moved it to the deerfenced back and it would have stood a chance. I find the higher standards, 5'0" as opposed to 3'6" are just about out of deer reach, so I actually can have them in the front as long as I start taking better care of them. Harrumph! When you first talked of weeping standards Jacqueline, I thought you were talking about the older ones where rambling roses are budded on to them, like Dorothy Perkins then there is a white one similar. I craved for years for these, but since having Dorothy Perkins as a rambler over a rose arch, I do not think I could ever entetain her again. It has been the worst blackspotter in my whole rose life. So that put me off having those standars with the great height of 6'0" - but they look gorgeous in photgraphs. Have fun picking out your new standards and success in ordering them. I know I want some more badly which will be happily planted in our deer-free back garden! Pauline - Vancouver Island...See MoreHappy Chappy 36-inch Weeping Tree Rose
Comments (7)I know this won't be of any help to you, but wanted to share with you what a friend of mine does. She bought a tree rose from a local greenhouse. For a fee of $15 annually, they overwinter the rose in a cave and even though it looks really rough by fall (she's not a rose person), it comes back each spring looking beautiful....all pruned/shaped and extremely healthy. Wish I had a cave in my backyard!...See MoreJP sale! Mix and Match select roses -5 roses for $50! Code: MIX5ROSES
Comments (181)Here are some pic update from my J&P sale and Wayside Gardens sale. Wayside Gardens sale roses (The Ancient Mariner x2 , Princess Alexandra Of Kent x2 , Darcey Bussell, Tess of the d'Urbervilles) were stressed from shipping in high temperature then got hit by the sun in my garden even they were under a tree, all the new growths died and it took a while with a lot of extra care before some new growths showed up again. Here are the pics of the 2 with slowest growths (The Ancient Mariner and Princess Alexandra Of Kent) taking today. I wasn't sure that these 2 could make it. I'm glad they did. The first J&P sale roses are doing great (Cabana x2, Hypnotized! x2, Daring Spirit (tree), JP 2020 Exclusive Preview Striped). Cabana Faked Hypnotized!
