We have 70 foot trees on our property and a few fell over during the storms of the past few years. Now I'm afraid of those big trees. I would never plant a tree that grows more than 8 feet. We have spent thousands of dollars getting rid of those trees that fell over.

A couple of years ago we were looking at fencing to hide an eyesore on our property. Hubby suggested we plant a forest of trees. Wow! It looks and feels amazing out there now. We live in the country so lots of space for them. We love our trees and the intimacy they bring to our space.

Now when a family member passes on or when there is a new addition to the family via birth or marriage, we plant a tree on our property to commemorate the event. The tree planting is officiated by a small family gathering and ceremony honoring those lives.

My next dream project would be to reforest the large expanse of front lawn. Hopefully the local nursery will be able to put together a master plan that can be executed over the next few years.

Thanks for the article, and all the comments, so inspiring to read!
