one wheel or two wheels on a wheelbarrow

I am in the market for a new wheelbarrow, and I've seen both styles available. I have only used the single wheel design. It seems the two wheel version would be much more stable, but it would be more difficult to maneuver than the single wheel version. Anyone have experience with both types to offer a recommendation? Thanks...

I prefer my single wheel units I have at home vs. the double wheel one at work. The double wheel ones can haul more, but the handles are the limiting factor for weight. We break a handle a year. Also, it seems to take an acre to turn the thing. You pretty much dump straight forward and are not able to "shake" out the material you are hauling. Another thing I don't like is twice as many wheels equal twice as much maintenance. Pushing it empty to a loading site only to find one tire was flat is aggravating. I can only see the advantage of stability for someone with limited strength or on really rough, steep areas.

Much of our property is sloping and a double wheel design would be very limiting for me. When I am traveling laterally on a slope I can tilt my single wheel wheelbarrow to keep it upright even though the ground is sloping. A double wheel design wouldn't let me do that because the two wheels would align the wheelbarrow with the slope, which would force it to tilt and very likely turn over, dumping my load at a place where I wouldn't want it dumped.

If the spark plug is skinny and stands straight up it's a 7.6hp which was early to mid '70's. If it has the fat plug on a slant it's a 6.6hp. Either way the carb is the same and it sounds like it needs a rebuild. The big "T" needle at the bottom is the gas adjustment screw and there is a screw with a spring around it that the air adjustment. To start out screw them in gently until seated then turn them both out 1 and 1/2 turns and try to start it then adjust from there but if turning them and not getting any reaction from the engine it's time for a carb rebuild. is it a David Bradley? sears sold them in the 50's and 60's. is a good machine is great for keeping weeds under control cultivating single rows. the planter would be a great thing too. my dad had 0ne and we worked about 1 acre with it. likely will not bust fresh sod but once you get going you will be fine perhaps haing the acerage plowed and disced with a big tractor from time to time.

I am writing from Florida, where I brought my new carry on and tote. I love it. Mine is a Samsonite Cityscapes spinner. I was walking it through the airport like a dog, beside of me. No problem!! Lightweight polycarbon, or something. It is adorable. Everyone comments on it. Love the pattern of NYC on the front. Please search it. Too cute. I do think the 8 wheeled cases are even easier but I fell for the Cityscape pattern. My Baggellini tote is huge and fit perfectly atop. Poor Sandy. Her tote was larger than her carry on. It kept tipping over and falling. She needs to upgrade her luggage, for sure.

To update this thread, I received the replacement wheels. After I put those on, there is a small "air gap" between the wheel and the retention clip, as shown in the first photo. I assume it is not okay to let the wheel slide horizontally on the axle? What kind of spacer is used for such cases? What would be ideal would be a kit of spacers that fit on a 5/8" axle and have different widths that I could try out for the best fit. The only kit I found was $40, but I might be searching for it using the wrong terms. Regarding the second photo, when I install the retention pin, should I be moving that all the way through, allowing it to swing around the end of the axle, or should I stop at the mid-position where it has minimal ability to swing?

mulch contractor uses a 10 cu ft double wheelbarrow. probably need 2 wheels to manipulate a bucket of that size. otherwise, i've never seen a professional contractor use a double wheel wheelbarrow. i presume for practical reasons.
