Space Saver: Put Your Storage on Wheels
Keep your stuff handy — or out of the way — with wheels on your furniture
The first apartment in New York I called mine was a shoebox studio in the East Village that measured in around 350 square feet. It was in that first teeny tiny apartment that I learned a valuable space-saving lesson. When you're short on space, storage furniture that rolls is a great solution for moving your stuff where you need it, when you need it. Here's a look at some inspiration on wheels.
For a spring soiree, I used my vintage trolley (originally from an old shoe factory) as a serving cart for drinks and dessert. Since I don't have a separate dining room, it was a quick and easy way to roll in the party!
This metal utility cart features a handsome butcher block top and a shelf to store the bulky stand mixer. And it's on wheels, so you can easily move it out from the oven to give you more space.
We're always moving around our coffee table to be closer to us when we're watching a movie (with snacks and drinks.) That's why I love how this yellow industrial coffee table features big caster wheels — just roll it on over, along with the bucket of popcorn.
This DIY rolling planter stashes a beautiful container garden. You can move this garden-on-wheels to a feature spot in your living room when you're having a party.
This cart is on wheels, so you can easily move the extra counter space around the kitchen to where you need for cooking.
Bonus design points: The red rolling island cart matches the backsplash and oven.

In this modern kitchen, you have a long utility cart that doubles as a kitchen island and a dining table. That's a way to make space work for you — here the kiddos can hang out while dinner is being prepared.
Tip: If you want your kitchen island cart double as a table where the family can sit, consider an open cart rather than a solid island. That way you have space to put your legs and can sit more comfortably.

This classic kitchen island with its marble top features two clever space-saving tricks:
The shelves on the side store your fresh produce (to keep the top surface clear as a workspace).
And this island's on wheels so you move it where you need for cooking — or roll it out of the way when you have a group of friends hanging out in the kitchen for a dinner party.

This metal side table with drawers is easy to move around since it's on wheels. I'd turn this table into a home bar for a party.

This low open shelving unit is on wheels and stores a large collection of books.
Tip: It's much easier to clean your floor (and pick up all those cobwebs in the corner) if you move your furniture around as you vacuum. That way you can easily reach the dust bunnies.

This rolling cabinet is a crafter's dream. With its long, deep shelves, you can stash many stacks of paper (no matter what size.) And you can move the bulky cabinet — with all those art supplies — to make space for projects.
This modern playroom features wooden drawers that pull out to reveal a big box of space for stashing toys.
