Did I kill my lawn

I over seeded in Early April. And I put starter fertilizer.

In some areas I think I put extra starter fertilizer.

Lawn came up good and it was all green and nice looking.

Last week I was out for 9 days and when I came back grass was very high It was almost 10-12 inches. I set my lawn at highest setting and cut the grass to about 3 inches.

Now my lawn is turning brown and blades has strings at the end.

Did I just kill my lawn by letting it grow too high? Is strings at end of grass blades indicates my mower needs sharpening?

Why my lawn is suddenly turning brown, So far I had just one application of starter fertilizer in April, Nothing else.

Any advice? What can I do to revive my lawn?

I have posted some pictures.
