What will happen if I do not kill off Mouse-ear chickweed?

I am in Raleigh, NC and have a fescue lawn. My front and backyard are pretty weed free. My side yard has a lot of mouse-ear chickweed. I am not keen on using weed killers like Weed-Be-Gone anymore. I am hoping that one day my cultural practices will lead to a lawn that will choke out weeds. I also don't need a trophy lawn and will tolerate some weeds.

My question is, what will happen if I don't kill off the chickweed with weed-be-gone? Will it eventually die off when the weather gets hot this summer? Will it stick around and spread or dies off and leave bare spots? How do people with subpar grass growth beat weeds without using chemicals?

Thanks for your help.
