But when my son went away to college, the minute he came home and sat down, his cat was on the chair beside him.

The videos are, like the toy department manager in Elf says, a little too good. But they are sweet!

When we were doing house remodels, we'd get home really late some times. Our cat Peeka would be waiting for us @ the door and chew-us-out verbally. He'd sit under a chair and just be mad at us...talking up a storm. After he'd had his say, he'd come out and give us a BIG greeting...and follow us around talking. He expected us to arrive home on time...not after 6pm.

I think at least some of that's AI generated - especially that one at the end with the oddly close up voices 🤔

That said, those videos reminded me of the time I was away for 3 weeks and when I got back my little kitty was doing somersaults, she was so excited to see me 🙂

I hate that I never know what is AI. That next-to-the-last cat looks just like my Maine coon, Bernie. we dont leave overnight, and they are okay with the normal amount of hours to hike the trail, go to the grocery store but any more hours than that bring all three underfoot. But there are no leaps in my arms...just meowing.

Well for one thing, how about the cats that seemed to be hanging out at sidewalk florists? That's kind of odd.

And AI never gets the meows quite right - they have a cat fight quality to them. A couple of those might have been real, but some were definitely AI. That said, I absolutely love watching men and their cats.

Those certainly are not our cats. Mila isn't sure she wants to know us and takes time to warm up to us again. Misty gets a little schizo where she missed us but then is really ticked off that we left in the first place, she's both glad and mad at the same time.

Ours would. My kitty Katya (sadly no longer with us) would meow in distress if we were on the other side of a door or window and not coming in fast enough.

Her sister Nadia almost always greets me at the door- DH uses her as an "alarm" to let him know I've driven into the carport so he can come out to help me bring in my stuff. The other day he told me that she had been sleeping at the other end of the house all day until I arrived home, then she suddenly appeared at the door.

Lacey, my new toy poodle, is sitting on my lap. I started watching the video, but all that meowing sent her into a tizzy so I stopped it. :) I don't know what her history is with cats but I'm guessing she is not a fan.

I have had a few cats and none of them were that enthusiastic whenever I returned from vacation. LOL

A video that has one or multiple scenes of something amazing, unusual or quite unexpected should be suspected. With those cat scenes, if any of them were real, I would have thought the person holding the camera or phone to start giggling, say something (Even Hi!), or jiggle the camera.

I agree with the earlier comment that the sync of the cat sounds and the video motion is off.

Looking at the video again, I did recognize most were AI. Especially the outside cats sitting by flowers on the street. Some of the meows sounded mean, more like cats fighting. I have a ginger cat that meows to me all the time and never sounds like most of these cats, but she does when she's fighting with Willie. The Maine Coon one was probably the only 'real' one.

The thing they got right is how cats can be happy to see you, and chewing you out at the same time.

Schoolhouse, yes, I think your kitties would miss you after an extended absence.

They sure would Lucille. About the first time a meal didn't show up on time....😄

The sentiment is real even though the video is manipulated. Of course your cats would miss you. Most cats aren't great at showing appreciation. Isn't there some saying like, dogs have family but cats have staff? (Or something like that anyway...😄)

They care and they love, it is just usually on their terms and not yours. That seems to be what many cat lovers appreciate the most.

Oh I didn't think of AI. But actually I did have a feeling about the last or near to last one, the white cat sitting on the brick step column. The man's face looked "off", like too bright and shiny. Some of the cats seemed especially wary of the camera person.

My indoor cat Pretty knows when I'm preparing to leave. She'll sit very quietly and watch. But when I come home there's not much excitement. ha

I dunno if she would, but I do know I miss him (he died many moons ago). My husband told me that Keegan would sit and mope by the door when I would go out of town. He was also a hugger. Man I miss that cat! Chyla probably would. She does run to greet me at the door when I work both jobs, having been gone for more than 12 hours+

Worrisome. If we're bamboozled by this AI... It makes me congratulate Australia for banning cells for children.

AI generated videos are becoming extremely sophisticated. It's good to be skeptical of anything that appears too pat, too pretty, too perfect, and learn to spot the abnormalities.

And according to hubby, when I was outside in the yard, my little kitty would follow me around to the nearest window and meow. Cats meow to their people, not to each other.

I've read many times that cats do not talk to other cats but to people only. And that has been my experience also!

Our two cats talk to each other. They make the sound of a mother cat calling her kittens. The one will want the other one to come play.....I played this and they both came running to me: Link

@maymay99 Pooky talks to me a lot! Its such a cute sound. I've read it's called trilling. We trill to each other back and forth. I've never had a cat do that before. It's fun.

Our cats have shown us that they missed us when we were away by destroying things.

The best cat ever shredded my husbands dress shirts that we had left hanging on a doorknob after bringing them home from the drycleaners. He also climbed up onto the counter and broke the moving ticking hands off a clock and that took effort - same trip.

Our next two cats shredded a fairly new leather couch when we were away. And that was after I had put a blanket and pillows on top of it "just in case". They kicked them off and went into destruction mode.

When we got home they were glad to see us and acted as though nothing had happened.

The best cat ever used to hug us and trill in our ears as he snuggled in our necks. Of all our cats I miss him the most and he's been gone for over 20 years.

I had surgery several years ago on a Friday morning. I was released from the hospital on Sunday afternoon. I was so looking forward to seeing my feline gang. I got home and they wanted nothing to do with me. DH pointed out that I likely smelled like I had been at the vet. I took a shower and they swarmed me right after that.
