Does your family hold reunions? If not

last year
last modified: last year

"... reunions? If not, how about start plans to begin one?" was intended as the rest of the title. But part of it was taken to the "Start the discussion ... ". I could click and go back to the title, but could see about only a couple of dozen of the first letters and have found that the only way to get to see later ones of the 75 allowed was to delete them and start again, being certain to check every dozen or so to correct errors.
On a number of occasions at family gatherings I've heard someone say something like "It seems to me that about the only time that our family gets together is at a wedding or a funeral or some such occasion".
Often I've asked whether they might consider starting to hold a family reunion, maybe on a regular basis?
Our family has held a reunion annually for over 125 years, which they claim to be the longest time of such family reunions.
Usually there are about 100 attending, a picnic at a park in a city nearby.
About 90 years ago it was at a park in Port Stanley, about midway along the north shore of Lake Erie. As we came over the edge of a hill above the village, I remember this 6 year old being astonished at the sight of such a huge expanse of WATER!
On our 100th anniversary a few years ago over 400 attended - one from as far away as California!
In these days when such a large portion of our connections is via internet, likely face to face connections with loved ones becomes increasingly important.
ole joyfuelled - fuelled also by family connections
