Sad loss. My generation of performers is dying off. I liked Ozzy. He was so outrageous.

I read that Ozzy called Sharon ”Mama”.

He’d often tell her over the phone ”Mama, I’m coming home” near the end of his tours.

Apparently, he wrote the song when he realised he’d better smarten up with the drug stuff or it was going to kill him.

Not sure if that’s true , but it’s a great story.

It is sad, but I feel like he mostly got to go out on his terms? It's very cool he got to have that reunion and farewell concert. He looks pretty happy in the picture. Got to do what he loved.

I saw him on U-tube, sitting in a chair singing on his farewell tour. "Back to the Beginning" in Birmingham on July 5, 2025. Only weeks ago...

OK...not really a farewell tour...but it ended up that way....

While he wasn’t one of my favorites, he certainly had talent and i liked many of his later albums and songs more than the earlier ones. The one featured above being one of them. He seemed to have turned into a true family man and in my view he certainly deserved the recognition he received via Grammys, R&R Hall of Fame, etc.

I can’t believe all these musicians of my generation are dying.

It sounds like he had a very difficult life early on. Good that he found love and joy and created that for others.

Elmer, Ozzy’s last concert was sold out. It was witnessed by 45,000 fans packing Birmingham's Villa Park soccer stadium and by 5.8 million more metalheads around the world who watched online.

I agree that sometimes it can be painful for some to watch/listen to/work with someone who is past their prime.

However, fans are fans and they love the nostalgia. It’s all good. 💕

We’re free to tune out at anytime. Or adjust the hearing aids, if need be, and keep bebopping along. 🤠

Truly amazing that he lived this long. Seems like he lived life to the fullest and loved at lot. Way to go bat man!

I was never a fan of heavy metal, so he wasn't a favorite, especially after eating the head off a bat. But he seemed to be a good family guy, and they all sure loved him. I'm glad he went out on his terms just weeks after a concert.

Another musician who has lost his voice is Paul Simon, and yet he keeps on touring but recent shows have been canceled. He lost his hearing and looks exceptionally frail. I often wonder about Art Garfunkel. To me he had the better voice.

Elmer, exactly. If you’re not a fan of Ozzy, you’re not going to want to go to see him ever. Not when he was in his prime. Not three weeks ago. Not ever. But, if you are a fan of Ozzy, one would probably get a kick out of seeing him live. Atmosphere, nostalgia, etc. I can understand it. You can always listen to a recording of your favourite artist if you need perfection. Some go to concerts just to pay honour to an artist.

Curling tournaments are so so here. Hockey games huge. The Calgary Stampede is a few hundred miles away from me but I know it is pretty popular. I avoid them all, but I don’t mind the folks who do enjoy them. I’m definitely not keen on the chuckwagon races ☹️ I’m not sure what that has to do with Ozzy, though.

My husband just played me a video of Ozzy and Sharon singing ”Take Me Out To The Ballgame” at some game. They were terrible. The crowd loved it.

I loved listening to and watching Ozzie! 20 years ago I feared that he would die before I saw him in person. Unfortunately, times changed and I no longer enjoyed concerts. I do always have YouTube to enjoy.

I am a fan of some heavy metal and of a lot of Ozzy’s music. I applaud his lengthy career and happy for him that he had a close family and support system despite lots of bumps along the way. While I personally thought the baseball game clip was cringey, I agree that he had lots of fans in the crowd and they loved it, as it was pure Ozzy! And I’m not even sure he was under the influence of anything….I think that was just how he spoke/sang in later years.

I saw Genesis’ last tour and in fact their last US show just a couple of years ago. Phil Collins had to sit the whole time and his very distinctive voice has definitely diminished. He was criticized for it by many and I knew what I was getting into when I bought those tickets. I didn’t care. Nothing would stop me from going, yes, partly to honor the artist, who gave me years and years of enjoyment, and partly for my own nostalgia. I was surely not alone and by the way, loved the show! The other members of Genesis are still great, they did a perfect mix of older and newer, and seeing Phil’s son now on the drums was a treat. But I acknowledge that you’d probably have to be my level of fan to have appreciated it. My guess is that most artists have that somewhere in their fan base, and I can somewhat understand why it might not make sense to the casual fan.

Anyway, rest in peace, Ozzy. Thanks for sharing, rox! Loved that first song choice.

Yes, yes, yes! You are a true fan. It’s not something that can be written out like a resume, or job experience, or technical manual. It just is. (Kind of like the Grinch finding out about Christmas)

I was never a fan of heavy metal but I did watch that reality show The Osbournes when it came out, and I became a fan of his. There was a scene of him trying to figure out the complicated remote in order to watch the tv, and it was just so relatable for me. I know it was all contrived, but they seemed like they were not putting on airs and really were comfortable with each other.

I did read somewhere, that he had said when his disease got to a point, that he would opt for euthanasia in Switzerland. I don't know if that is fact, but it seems that 's where he went .

That’s how I took it.

He was never ever on my radar, either musically or on TV. I'm a bit older, and my musical preferences were well set and never included metal. And although I watch Survivor and cooking shows, I have never watched that type of reality TV. But nice to see that he was appreciated and loved.

Thanks for the correction.... I did think he ended up in Switzerland; did not know that he died in Birmingham. Raising the money for charity was a beautiful note. I was not aware of that either.

I watched the original reality show where you got to see him at home being Dad rather than being Ozzy. He was so funny! I don’t think they could even script a personality like that. They had a lot of animals and he feuded with neighbors, it was funny.

I really enjoyed the World Tour show that he did with Jack and Kelly. You got to watch him as a world famous Grandpa going to tourist sites. He made me laugh so I watched it. I was a metal head but more Judas Priest and AC/DC than Sabbath. I am glad Parkinsons didn’t make him quit, he just had to sit down.

I grew up on the rock music that my dad enjoyed from his youth in the 70s, though Black Sabbath really wasn't his style. In high school I started liking some heavy metal (the genre has so many different subgenres) including Black Sabbath and Ozzy Osbourne. I was fortunate to go to one of his concerts and be in the front row sometime in the 2010s. At least back then it was a fantastic concert and Ozzy really could sing. I think like any person Ozzy had good and bad qualities, but he was truly a great performer and artist. RIP Ozzy.
