The furniture is set up like a TV room but there is no TV. The sofas and chair should relate to each other. Flip the couch and love seat and Add a big coffee table in front of the couch. Bring the chair over to an angle by the love seat so that you have a coversation grouping.

Then, art on the walls above the sofa and love seat.

Back off the amount of yellow in the wall color to a warm white like SW Alabaster. Put up teal drapes (the color in the chair and the throw pillows). Even if you never close them, you need some color. The sofa matches the carpet which is not doing the room any favors, but if you like carpet instead of wood floors it is what it is. Auntthelma is right about the furniture arrangement. I would also replace the crystal lamps.

This layout could work for your room.

IMO too many wooden furniture pieces. Move the desk, etagere & console table to other rooms.

What do you use the room for?

Look for wall paint in the greige color of the chair's fabric background color. Get large samplize pieces to try in your room. Make sure the paint complements the rug.

Widen the curtain rod and push the curtain panels to the edge of the windows.

Use blue in your accessories. The yellow is not good with the rug or sofas.

As others said, it looks like there’s too much stuff crammed in. My first impression is that it’s a doctor’s waiting room with seating lined up evenly along the walls. Or as if the seating has been pushed back so a person has room to dance or exercise in the middle.

Put the big and tall curio cabinet in the corner in another room, and I’d actually take away the table under the front window too.

Add a good size coffee table that can be reached by those seated on both couches (or on one couch and chair). Turn and pull the arm chair towards the middle of the room too.

Would advise you to selectively remove pieces. Keep what you need to accommodate for seating for sure. Would also suggest you rethink the color scheme. The walls and carpeting are dull and uninspiring colors that just weigh the room down. A lighter color scheme would lift the spirits of the room. If you remove the carpeting and replace with another type of flooring would still advise adding a rug as that can bring in some much needed color and pattern.

We might suggest a different layout for the space. Maybe try the sofa on the long wall where the loveseat is and then place the loveseat where the sofa was. Try the secretary where the curio was and the console table by the door to allow for keys and things to be dropped there. Otherwise the chair looks like its in a good place and you might place the side table where the etagere currently is.

I spy a metal finish chandelier in garden tendril style, so any new accessories like lamps, coffee table, end tables, same finish and style! Agree with Norwood architects to get a big area rug, DISAGREE with replacing the carpet — it’s a perfect cool neutral brown with nice pile, in excellent condition — please please, no small fortunes lost replacing the rug!

The easy chair is such a gorgeous fabric, please do not scrap it, and please do not remove these good pieces!
