Paint Exterior Design Dilemma

Need help with exterior colors!

I absolutely hate the color of these scallops on my house. Would love to completely reside but can’t at this time. What color can I paint the scallops and trim/garage/porch spindles, maybe even front door that would “tone it down”??

RedRyder, I picked out all of these colors 20 years ago when we had the house built. It was ”in” back then with Red shutters and accents on the porch….hate it now though lol Funny, originally we wanted the ”scallops” the same color as trim but it didn’t come in that color so we chose this awful color lol. Thanks for the advice!! I’m excited to get started :)

You have a Beautiful house.

Cream or light creamy white needs to go on all your posts and scallops . And paint the shutter a lighter shade of the gray green color. I would even paint those garage doors.

What a beautiful home!

Yes, paint anything that’s currently light tan to match the rest of the home. Even the garage doors.

Porch trim and window trim could match the white windows, but maybe in a slightly dulled-down white. You might not want to paint ALL the porch trim white, though. That might be too much. Just paint the same as the house. Your front door could be the same white.

I’m not usually a fan of shutters but yours aren’t bad. Their color is ok.

thanks for the replies! egbar - I was thinking a deep navy color for the shutters and door. I agree the above color is too cool. The gray shutters are a good idea also with a lighter stucco color. i'm going for a more modern look with stainless hardware and lanterns. so maybe yellow is out of the question. nosoccermom - the grout color is gray. a brown gray is a good idea. its just so hard to find the right one! so confused!

I think a light grey would look very smart - white trim. Be sure to paint the garage door the same color as the house to help it disappear.

Gutters, soffits and downspouts aren't features you want to call attention to, so you should get them in colors that blend in. The vendor is only going to have certain colors prefinished. See if you can get samples to look at next to your brick. You'll probably end up with something tan. If you're interested in a green in BM, I used Nantucket Gray on my previous house. It's actually green instead of gray.

I would paint the gables the same color as the house siding and paint all the trim white.

Definitely paint those "scallops" the same as the house, and also the garage doors. I have no idea why some do those gables or peaks, in different colors. They just do not ever look good. You have a gorgeous house. For your door, a nice bright welcoming color, of your choice.

Same color, just as Beverly showed you. Then figure out which fabulous, happy color to paint the front door.

If you’re redoing the trim, consider warmer whites AND bright whites. The right ivory can add a tiny bit of warmth to the grey.

Your house is beautiful. It will make you happier with a little paint over the (whoever thought of this?) beige.
