Can you be a little more specific about what you don't like? It looks like a builder basic bathroom to me - other than the tree of course!

Something more modern looking... everything that's not natural wood is very builder basic from the 90s. I'd love to make it not so obvious of a dated one piece surround somehow.

Get a more interesting shower curtain, paint the walls. It's not that bad. Those one piece surrounds are easy to clean. We have seen many uglier bathrooms on this site. :-)

It's fine-it's plain, white and appears in shape so no way to modernize it without removing it. Just keep the shower curtain closed. I'd have the tile floors professionally cleaned and remove the tree thing and black hook thing and just accent with some nice towels, bath mat and counter accessories.

Hopefully you already know this, but if you are "BROKE" after purchase, all cosmetic changes should be very cheap and minor (like a new shower curtain) until you get some savings built back up. In my experience at least, something important will go wrong sooner rather than later and you will regret pennies spend on pretties. First house, electric problems, second AC, third furnace, fourth.....waiting for the shoe to drop.

I agree with Beth. Paint the floors. I painted and stenciled my builder grade bathroom floor about 9 years ago. My only regret is waiting so long to take the plung. I think I spent about $200 on the project but it was long ago. My mind is fuzzy with the numbers now. I still have the same painted floor and still love it.

Do you have any diy skills or tools? You can also glue molding to the outside of your tub and then paint the molding along with the outside of the tub.

Decide on a color scheme and buy a shower curtain that makes you smile. Then do all the DIY painting ideas that @Beth H: shared.

Also, give yourself a break. You have plenty of time for all the projects your house will need. If the bath surround really bugs you, buy the shower curtain NOW.

My guest room has one of these. I found the cutest white/grey/yellow shower curtain (at Target), painted the vanity, got a beautiful towel bar and hook and upgraded the faucet. I never “see” the tub surround because that bathroom is so damn cute. The shower curtain really made the difference.

Other than the odd tree with things sticking out of it, I see nothing off-putting about the white shower/bath. It's white. It looks very easy to clean. The floor is warm-neutral. Maybe the grout needs cleaning, but I wouldn't paint that floor. It's nice. If this is your first house, you ought to save your money for unexpected home maintenance costs, like a water heater that dies before its time, or a roof leak, or a window leak, or a new air conditioner, or dishwasher or whatever other appliance needs replacing. Cosmetic stuff can wait, especially when the items that bother you are fairly neutral. It seems like the least of the relevant concerns.

Well, if there are no leaks in the tub /shower surround, i would live with it for now. i just renovated my master bathroom, (last renovation in my house and i have been here for 16 years). My grand total for all materials came to about 20k. My friend and i did all of the labor. My bathroom was far uglier than yours. i would live with it until you can do it nicely. get a CAD plan from a real kitchen and bath company when you do decide to do a complete remodel. It was the best money i spent. I feel your pain with expenses, believe me. Do a renovation once and properly, otherwise you’ll just keep spending money and nothing looks right- you dont want to cut corners on material, especially plumbing fixtures (box stores often have plastic parts in their fixtures which fail. i do not recommend any plumbing fixtures from them). paint the walls though, and really think about the bathroom you want down the road, it will be expensive but you put just as much labor in a cheap bathroom as an expensive one. That is one of the least offensive one-piece shower surrounds I have ever seen. Give yourself a $100 budget. Buy a curtain you absolutely adore and keep it closed all the time. A shower curtain is 80% of the visual field in a small sized bathroom. Get hardware you like for the vanity and towel hooks. Get towels you love. Then start rebuilding your savings for the unexpected, many thousands of dollars, repair you will soon be making to some random part of your house that suddenly goes kaput!

The surround looks like it's in great shape. I have one too in my second full bath. We thought about replacing it when we remodeled in 2015 but tearing those things out in a bear. So it stayed, and the bath got a new curtain that I keep closed. Live with it for a while and don't jump into anything.

I don't find the bath objectionable. Don't spend money you don't have. The most I would do is install a shower curtain that extends from the floor to the ceiling with a matching vinyl liner.

No one will notice the bathtub when there's a tree in the room. Buy nothing while you are broke. Rebuild your savings.

The bathtub surround is clean and inoffensive. The shower curtain still shows folding lines, so it is brand new. If you have another shower curtain in a different bathroom, you can trade shower curtains. install the artwork you brought with you, put in your towels and bathmat, and it's fine.

What exactly is the issue ? I see nothing wrong with this tub/ shower it looks like 1000s of them all over the place . I have no idea what that pole/ tree is .
