In the morning I went out in the garden and the pathway between two flower bads was full of snails passing from one side to another. I killed like 70 or so. After 50 I stop counting. Inspired by Randy's experiment with DE I did the same and went a bit further. I made a ring of DE and put a few snails in the middle. After they passed it with no problem I took them and put all of them with some leaves in a cup and I cover the cup with a piece of wood leaving a small opening for air. I wanted to see if they die from DE not from starving and lack of oxygen. They eat some of the leaves and are pilled up at the top of the cup. I checked them every day and give them fresh leaves. After 3 days they are still alive. I guess the DE is not working with my snails. pat

I have given in too. You are right that the iron phosphate just cant keep up. I bought 2 large containers of Ortho Bug Geta (metaldehyde) today to resolve the problem I witnessed first hand this morning. I was up at 5 AM (don't ask) and decided to have coffee on the patio before it got hot. I walked outside and there were no less than 50 slugs on my potted Jewel of the Nile. OH MY GAWD! This has GOT to stop! I dug some amonia out of the garage and did the 10% solution in one of my kids super soakers and went to town. I felt like Ahnold in Terminator! It was fantastic! I just hope the poor hostas aren't going to whither from the drenching they got. Every single hosta in my garden had at least 10 - 15 slugs and the ones near the rock walls were even worse. I just finished spreading the Bug Geta and will be doing recon tomorrow morning again. I HATE THOSE SLIMY BASTARDS! Alexa

dvarnell, what kind of painter's tape did you use? Do you know the number on the tape. A decorative painter's tape with low tack and something I use on a regular basis is 3m-2080. Some of the other sizes will or can leave a residue of break down on your walls. I don't or haven't ever had a problem out of the one I use. So , is it really tacky, sticky residue, or is it the acutal tape itself on the wall? JMHO, I definitely would not use the magic eraser. You will sure mess up your great work. It really doesn't get stuck in the paint, unless some things like maybe the roller edges or edgers, what ever was used may have been used with a little heavier pressure, more distributed right near the edge lines of the tape, air blowing or uneven temperatures directly related to the areas you are talking about. So , first of all, is it a sticky like tacky feel on the wall, or is it still some tape on the wall?

Would you expect the painter to mask off each electrical box on a new construction project? I've never seen that before. It is not necessary because normally the wire hasn't been stripped at the painting stage. I would say the electrician jumped the gun by doing finish work before the sheetrock was even hung, hence the term dingleberry. I guess I am lucky that he at least didn't install the switches and outlets before the sheetrock was installed.
