What should I do with this entry way?
Comments (20)I would paint the stairs a dark brown to match the railing -- be sure to use porch paint, so it can withstand some wear. Then add a runner (although this is not a cheap option). Be sure that the landing isn't plywood, or no amount of paint will make it look decent. Anyway, dark treads plus (current) white sides, means you can keep dark railing and white spindles. It's a classic look. As for the tile, it's just not great. Easiest fix is to darken the grout so that the pattern is minimized, and then find a great entry rug with some color and pattern, which will add cheer and distract from the tile. Someday you can replace it with simple cement-look or slate-look tile in a single color, but meantime, just look at as little of it as possible. A nice picture on the wall opposite the closet will also help happy up the space. Note: keep in mind the rug possibility when picking a runner -- you may want the latter to be solid or in a very simple pattern so that your choices for other decorations in the space aren't too constrained....See Morewhat can I do to this entryway?
Comments (1)Perhaps something like this, and add a narrow table under mirror with books, flowers, or small framed picture....See MoreEntry area, what do I put here?
Comments (3)I would get a much larger chadelier, put a small walnut demilune table on the handle side of the door with a long mirror above, place a long piece of fiber art on the wall to the left, and get a coordinating rug. The table/mirror will give you a bit of function, and the fiber art and rug will give you texture and color....See MoreFront Entrance. What to put where and what else do i need?
Comments (5)move the wedding photo to the niche (or in another room). you actually need two of them (the one you have is hung too high) here's an example. or, if you want the one, try staging it like this. maybe tile the back wall inside the nice, try a wallpaper, a darker paint color. I've always liked this wall niche. I love the black/white inlay bone mirror. in this tall rectangle, it lookds great inside the arched niche. consider cutting a piece of wood for the bottom portion tried to photoshop it but your photo is crooked. if you could get me a shot of it standing straight on, I could play around w/it. beneath the mirror I'd place a piece of wood for the bottom 'shelf'. it would be like a sill. the wood would match your post or your flooring. you could do a small grouping of plants, or something similar to sit on the wood 'sill' beneath the mirror. now, for your entry table, do it like this. the mercury glass lamps/black shade, and the bright green/white floral arrangement is so pretty. especially if you do the black/white bone inlay mirrorr what about this version w/the art? you'd have to pick something you like, but fit it between two lamps, or some greenery and a vase. I like the ceramica stools beneath them. black would also work I actually have this light for my hallway. Bergamot 17" I also love a good piece of art. your table, a few key pieces If doing a mirror, do something in the right size, balanced w/other items. get some little ottomans to slide under the console, or something like these baskets these are three diff ways to style slim consoles. it's paired here w/a snow leopard rug. but look at the top left.. the white vase w/plant leaves, stool/basket beneath, a little lamp, other elements and a large mirror. (I like a nice piece of art better) this is the size you'd want here's a large mirror, console, small stool to slide under it, and a nice potted orchid. and a cool light dont forget some cool lighting....See Morepartim
