mirror over fireplace..would this bother anyone else?
Comments (28)I bought the wire today. We'll see how dh does with it tonight :) He just loves being hit with projects after a long day at work, lol. I do have another place for it. I THINK. The space where this pic is, right when you walk in the door. I wanted a mirror there originally. But, dh liked this pic there. So, I caved :)I'd then have to ditch the picture completely because there's literally nowhere else for it. (it's the one we tried over fireplace, and didn't care for) Oh, and the ugly little pine table is out of here. As soon as dh builds my bookcases behind the couch :) maybe something on a canvas, that doesn't have a frame may work better? I'll keep looking if the mirror doesn't work out....See MoreAbove the Mantel - mirror or painting?
Comments (42)Being encoraged somewhat by "They(mirrors) reflect light and open up a space to add dimension.")).. , I want to add that finding the right mirror is not easy at all. You (a theoretical "you"..insert any pronoun) need it to be certain size, right? That's a big mirror. If you order it online and you dislike it-you're kinda stuck..since the cost to return it might be big, and some stores will ask for restocking fees too, even if their shipping to you was free. So seeing it would be helpful. Everything new and affordable-I personally am not a fan of (yes I do have some in my house, bathrooms for example-because I was already desperate, and nothing suitable on Craigslist for months, and everything I love is expensive). So leaves one more often than not with scouring Craigslist. Again you're very patient and you check each day-or almost each day-so it's easier than art, a mirror-but as somebody who was hunting mirrors also..one needs luck with "his" mirror too. I do have my favorites saved allover..favorite mirrors I mean..I'll check what I have saved. Probably useless to you; but who knows. We might have similar taste or something. I have only one mirror in my house I truly love..but it's quirky. And I could afford it since smaller. Otherwise that site would want 700$ or smth like that..they carry several nice mirrors....See MoreCoffee table or something else?
Comments (17)Your living walk through area isn't any smaller than 90% of what most homes offer. The trunk is transitional. There are lots out there in different sizes and finishes. https://www.bellacor.com/products/american%20made%20lift%20top%20coffee%20table.htm https://www.homedepot.com/p/Coast-to-Coast-Carmel-Burnished-Natural-Lift-Top-Cocktail-Table-67456/309575855 https://www.ashleyfurniture.com/c/furniture/living-room/coffee-tables/lift-top-coffee-tables/?sz=16&start=32&gridOffset=%5B2%5D...See MoreIs something missing here in my living room??
Comments (72)Wow, Lucas, what an amazing difference! Your home looks so inviting and functional - the perfect combo! I do love the dining alcove and I predict you will find yourself using It for much more than dining with its location next to that spectacular window wall. Hang some art on those walls and it’s perfection! Thank you Lucas, for inviting us into your home and considering all of the varied advice and opinions and being so gracious about showing us what worked and especially for sharing your adjustments you made based on the advice. The ”before and after” pics are so much fun to see. Your organized and analytical thought process has made for great reading to follow on this thread. Cheers!...See MoreIda Claire
