momtoseth, thank you, that is a beautiful color! (love the decor as well!) I am going to have to sample that color as well. And thanks to both Laurie and dawnp for pics of the mineral alloy nursery. I do like the color, just hoping it's not too "blue". I still want to paint up a sample board and place it in the room before I decide for sure. Thank you all again! :)

ILC: I don't think that the room could handle two hutch desks, seems to me that it would be overpowering. I think every room needs a focal point, be it a fireplace, built-in, bed, or something else. I also think that piece needs to fill a space height-wise, or you have to group something above it to fill the focal point on the wall as well. With a wall of built-ins, then the sofa becomes a balancing focal point. I would look to a custom kitchen cabinet shop for ideas. All better-quality cabinet makers create pieces for a home office. It's a matter of how you arrangement them and what sort of material you use for the surface. Corian is easy to clean and granite would look fabulous, but you can also get stained or painted wood to match the cabinets. Google on it or look at cabinet maker websites for more ideas. No matter what look you go for (old world, modern, traditional, English country, etc), it will be clean and efficient because you design it to fit your requirements. The downside is you don't get to face your partner, but rolling chairs on a hardwood floor can help you there. What a fun project! The office and foyer look to have good natural light while the kitchen does not. If that's true, based on the progression I outlined above, I would put the lightest color in the kitchen, a mid-range shade in the foyer and the darkest color on a color strip card in the office. Use the flooring as your key, and go with blue or yellow undertones, all depending on the warmth or "coolth" of the flooring color. For example, if you have yellow undertones you might try a selection of more pastel olive greens (usually yellow based) or if cool, some sage greens have more blue undertones. Christopher Lowell has an easy method to help you get a good neutral that is not influenced much by blue or yellow, but a true neutral for a good background. Here is his video "7 layers of design." So my husband agreed and decided on Gauntlet Gray for the cabinets. I want to paint that triangular wall above the cabinets also the Gauntlet Gray so we have one whole wall of this dark color. The painter and I convinced my husband to paint the ceiling, baseboard, and window trim, plus back of the glass French doors white. The designer says all dark gray trim, but the baseboards are skimpy for these large rooms and high ceilings. I know I’ve hurt my hubby’s feelings because he was set on all gray trim for re-sale. We are trying to tell him that he is seeing what builders are doing in model homes and the painter is telling him what he paints the most which is what customers are asking for. Now, what to put on the walls with the SW Gauntlet Gray? The designer says Accessible beige. And he wants to put Agreeable Gray throughout the house, with Accessible beige in the first floor master and tiny dining room. I’m struggling with these two color tones, Accessible beige and Agreeable Gray. The center is the cabinet color. I’ve never seen it or sampled it. Scares me but painter and designer say it’s a great color. Bottom left little sample is SW Accessible beige. The one above it is BM Edgecomb Gray, the little center strip is BM pale oak. And the far right is SW Agreeable Gray.
